Cornell Animal Science

So I applied to Cornell as an animal science major with the intention of becoming a vet, but I am now pretty confident I want to become a dentist (dramatic change, I know). I got in, but since it is in the CALS, I’m somewhat locked into it. How hard is the animal science major compared to the biology major? Dental schools typically require a 3.5 GPA. Should I just stay in animal science or should I switch into biology? Will the courses for animal science still help me prepare for the DAT (the bio & chem classes).

Thanks so much for any help (I really need it)!

My friend got into CALS as one major but then switched her major within CALS the summer before coming to Cornell. I’m not sure who you would contact – probably your faculty advisor once you get assigned one – but it’s definitely possible to switch majors.
