Cornell CALS subject tests?

I want to apply to cornell CALS communications major ED this November.

I got my SAT subject scores back and I got a 750 in Math II and 630 in US history.
My guidance counselor is telling me that I probably shouldn’t send in my 630.
Although CALS does not require SAT subject tests, they “recommend it”.
Should I take the US history again in october?

My other Standardized testing are
34 on my ACT (E: 34, M: 35, R: 34, S: 31)
5 on APUSH and 3 on STATS…

It’s a tough one. Schools that “recommend” subject tests are essentially stating that unless you don’t have the financial means to take the tests, you should really submit the recommended number of Subject tests. Here, if Cornell recommends 2, you should send the 2 in. That being said, you really want to send in scores that can boost your application and I tend to agree with your GC that a 630 won’t particularly do that. Unfortunately, I don’t think the 5 on APUSH will substitute for the 630 on US Subject test (and it may or may not be taken into consideration to offset the 630…only the AO would know that. Most don’t consider AP scores I hear…but again, no way to valid any of this).

Fortunately, its still early and you have time. Either study for the US History subject test or another subject test and take it in Oct. and Nov. to see how you do.

Good luck!
