So I applied early to CAS and have heard of many people who applied early getting contacted by the alumni network for interviews. I haven’t gotten contacted and am assuming this late in the process, my odds of being contacted are low.
My question is, does being offered an interview mean anything? Though I know Cornell says it does not indicate anything, I live in an area where there are many alumni, and i’m thinking that it would be a waste of alumni resources for Cornell to offer interviews to applicants who didn’t make the initial cut. Does not being offered/being offered an interview indicate Cornell’s interest in accepting you? Or indicate that you’ve “made it” through the initial round of application cutting?
Also, I do have a decent hook, so do you think that could be a reason why they may not find it necessary to interview me?
Don’t read into it. Just means someone didn’t get around to contacting you in time - they should have but the window for the alumni interviews (for ED) is very tight and someone in your area just dropped the ball
Cornell doesn’t want you to think it means anything. It really does though. Cornell is as tricky as Run-DMC. It doesn’t mean you got in, but it means they didn’t just throw your app in the trash.
No, it really doesn’t mean anything. I live in Ithaca. Every other person is a Cornell alumnus, many of them still very actively involved with the school (as in willing to do alumni interviews). I never got contacted for an interview. Still got in. Don’t read too far into anything regarding the admission process.
I concur with those above that it does not mean anything. 2 Cornell alumni lived up the street from us, my daughter did not get contacted (and we live in a region far away where few apply to Cornell), and she was accepted. Don’t read into the interview. It’s informational for you. No worries if you don’t get one.
