its lookin hot

Really? 120 people apply from my school every year.

cornell doesnt compare you to your classmates if thats what you mean

Really beef? B/c my friend who visited Cornell said that an admission lady told her that they compared applicants of the same school together...

Yeah, I heard that they do compare you to your classmates.

well 40 people did get in including people with low 80 average's.

You must go to a really competitive high school, or a good magnet school, collegehopeful. I'd say that's a plus.

well im pretty sure they dont but ill call later on or tommorow to find out

I do go to a really competitive high school. Wikipedia says its one of the best in the world.

what coast is it on...if its california...then its arcadia...new york-one of the specialized high school

probably bx science or stuy. it is true..they don't intentionally compare you to your classmates, but it is practically inevitable if you come from one of the feeder schools..i was in a similar situation not too long ago.

yea its bx science.

You made this thread on every other Ivy forum...

Do some research. Try finding the school that fits you best; don't focus entirely on prestige / rank / Ivy-status.

Is it really possible for people with 78's to get in? People in my school have done it. Do you think their parents donated a lot of money or something.

Most likely; there's no way a C-student is getting accepted without, like, quadruple legacies on both sides of his family.

78 total average or just for one course?

total average. And it wasn't just one person? There were quite a few.

How competitive is your school and how rich are they? Also, if you are getting this from naviance remember it may be incorrect. For one university on my hs naviance it said there was a 463% acceptance rate. Lol...do they admit 4 people who did not even apply for each normal perosn that applies and is accepted? Point is...don't read into it.

dude even a 78 from bx science won't cut it..there must be something wrong. all i can think of: URMs who happen to be filthy rich and donated to the school, and were recruited for a div. 1 sport, and partly explained their low grades but are backing them with high test scores??
