Cornell Class of 2017 RD Discussion

I actually have seen unicameral2013 and alexissss on multiple other threads I’ve been following…I don’t think they’d be making that stuff up. But then again, even if Cornell did use such an algorithm, it seems sort of odd…?

LOLL. Omg. I would believe them since I know I’m getting rejected anyway. ): sigh,

How do they know cornell uses an algorithm btw?

I actually don’t know.
I assume uni is kidding.

Hmm…not trying to kindle controversy but I got my email 8:34 AM and I am accepted…
But even if emails were sent out at odd/even intervals, arrival time on your inbox can be displayed differently.

Oh. Well I guess we have no way of telling then? I think I’m going to cry. This wait has been so painful.

@cyanproxy I actually have a sent time rather than an arrival time

I also got mine at 8:34, but Im RD and do not know the results. I guess it will be cool to test this theory come decision time!

uhm… Okay lets ask more people for reference. Anyone else got likelies and got an odd number time for their decision instructions?

I got mine at an even time and am accepted, too, lol.

are we talking about the sent time or the receiving time? Cause I received mine at 11:26 am but it was sent 1 minute earlier

Yeah, now I’m really curious! Hmm…I always did believe I had a good shot at Cornell. All my friends got in last year with the slightly lower scores/stats as me, and my email was sent at 8:02 am. Who knows though?

We are talking about the receive time…
Anyone else?!

I could chance you. >.>

If it weren’t such apain, I mean.

Oh this is an interesting observation…
Luc425 is from Seattle and so am I. Email sent on the same exact time…
I know I got accepted RD because I am a Hotelie applicant and they sent decisions early…

@DreamsAreReal Hang in there…just couple of more days
@Philovitist Congratulations! Which school did you get into?

I’m a CALS applicant though, so I hope it works out.

i’m calling ******** on this one… it’s too sketchy. they wouldn’t differentiate the emails based on results and besides, whose to say that sending and receiving times were the same? also, i got mine in my inbox at 10:09 but I have a good reason to believe that i was accepted because I received a letter from human ecology that not everyone received and i was contacted by a current student, and not everyone was contacted by one.

Now when i think about it, I dont think the time on email will really determine anything. It’s the portal that’s fixed. But then again I know I’m not getting in so…

@Barovets yeah, I’m with you on this controversy. What kind of letter did you receive?
@Luc425 What I’m trying to get to is that I think time is rather decided by the area you are living in than acceptance/rejection

In the end, who knows. What a mess haha

I feel like there’s a flood of e-mails sent around 8AM and another around 11AM. The earlier ones being acceptances. But I guess we’ll see if any of these ideas are true on thursday lol

@cyanproxy: here is the letter! http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/1465644-likely-letter.html</a>

and i’m calling admissions in the morning to sort this out. I think this is a ■■■■■ cause there is no way that admissions would reveal their algorithm/method of admissions

I created an account simply because this topic has me freaked out. I got an email at 11:35. However, I must ask the question: how would an admissions counselor know about the algorithm applyyourself uses? The email was sent via the applyyourself site, so it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with Admissions itself.
