Cornell Class of 2020 Regular Decision Discussion Thread

.

What is my chance(international student) of getting financial aid from Cornell, if I already got a LL?

@bahiablue I can see nothing except a dot

@Dragonflygarden That’s really terrific - I’ve heard that Dyson is incredibly difficult to get accepted into.

@CCSenioritis congratulations. Hope I can get in as well.

@pk2608 - Your chances remain unchanged. Many people are accepted without Likely Letters.

@Sheroman2020II - Financial aid is unaffected by the likely letter. Sorry. :confused:

I am an international male(Caucasian/European) applying to COE. Should I worry that I didn’t get a likely letter since I guess LLs got sent to internationals too? :-/

@Anonymoose3 darn, I just hope I get financial aid. I have already set my eyes on cornell :slight_smile:

Is amount of aid required put into consideration?

@Sheroman2020II If you mean is it put into consideration for admissions, it is not supposed to be as far as I know.

To those going to the Diversity event: what day are you going?

@CAMidwestMom Sorry for the vague wording. On my letter it says " we provide need-based financial aid on a limited basis to a selected number of admitted international students who have applied for international financial aid".

My financial situation is very lacking, and would my high financial need impact my candidacy for need based aid?

I think it won’t impact, but they probably won’t meet your full need.

I have a quick question about the SHA admissions process: does the school offer any LLs and what is the criteria the school uses to notify the select few during the first week of March? Personally, I have not had any contact with the school since the submission of my application. Do you think, by not hearing within that first week of March, that my application was not sent in early enough for it to be considered in the first wave of the rolling admissions pool?

@cornell20 there possibly could have been LL’s for diversity… and the admissions people at SHA said they send couple of acceptances in early march as they go through applications (so basically the people who got acceptances just happens to be the first applications they finish)…but I think that they send early acceptances to top applicants

I just got a letter saying I was accepted!

@litlhoward2468 thank you for clarifying some of the more convoluted parts of this process throughout this whole thread.

@Chrysanthemum14 Congratulations!

@Chrysanthemum14 YAAAS CONGRATS

@Cornell20 Thanks
@CCSenioritis Thanks and congrats to you too!
