Cornell Class of 2020 Regular Decision Discussion Thread

Y’all worry too much. Please stop worrying and just wait until Ivy Day.

@vegen030797 i mean if they said that you are likely to be admitted, then that’s what they’re saying.

14 daaaaays. Two weeks go, people… Just two more hellish weeks to endure. (:expressionless:

Hey everybody. I am an international and I don’t fit in the requirements for a TOEFL waiver but my TOEFL was waived. Never though too much about this before but is this a bad thing? Is there a possibility that they haven’t received my TOEFL score on time and waived it to proceed with my application and threw my TOEFL away when they got it?

Anyone else get a physical letter yet? Mine came in the mail today. Wasn’t an official acceptance, but it acknowledged that they’ll officially come out in late March and that I will be accepted to Cornell University’s Class of 2020.

@LViaLViaquez what school did you apply to at Cornell?

@collegegold11 Human Ecology, specifically as a Policy Analysis and Management major.

I got the Diversity LL by e-mail, but today by mail I got a totally different LL that said I had been chosen as 1 of 40 to be some kind of scholar (forgot the name sorry) which includes some opportunities and $1,000 in merit aid. This had a separate “re-visit” day listed.

Hey guys, I got a likely letter for women in engineering on March 14th. They invited me to go to a campus event and Cornell Days as well. Is this an early acceptance? I’m super crushed after being rejected from Northwestern :frowning: Hope Cornell works out

@Silverlight101 I think you’re in; congrats!

Man I don’t think I can take this rejection. To me, the saying, “you can receive a fantastic education anywhere,” just isn’t true. I visited other colleges, my state flagship Binghamton, BC(I was rejected today):(, Columbia, Fordham, and they don’t compare. I applied to ILR school, the only school of its kind. I feel is no other college in the nation that can offer the diverse rigorous education that Cornell ILR does. Im not one of those people who wants to go for the prestige, but for classes offered, the 1000+ activities,the study abroad opportunities, and the rural setting of Ithaca. Its my dream school, one that will allow me to focus on studying the labor and wage system, something I have been intrigued by since getting my first job at the age of 12. I feel i showed plenty of demonstrated interest in my essay, and I swear that I want to attend Cornell more than anyone else. The wait is driving me insane, and I’ll be praying for the next 2 weeks to see a acceptance letter. Good Luck to everyone else who feels the same way I do!!

@LViaLViaquez Yeah, I got a physical package yesterday. Didn’t even receive an email. They told me the same thing: that official results would not be out yet but they wanted to share the good news on my acceptance in advanced anyways. Congrats to you!

CHE applicant here- a little worried because it seems that many people have received likely letters, especifically for CHE. The school only accepts about 450 applicants each year, so I wonder how many spots are still open…

are you female?

@motortrend me? Yes.

@Silverlight101 - You and I are in the exact same position :slight_smile: I got the LL from them a few days ago for WIE (which means unless you fail out of school or commit a felony you are in), but I got rejected from Northwestern today as well. Oh well, that’s life.

If you received LL you are in!! Enjoy it!

It was Tanner Dean’s Scholars. Anyone else get this/know anything more about it?

@LViaLViaquez congrats! are you a URM?

@Chrysanthemum14 thanks, congratulations to you as well!
