Cornell Class of 2020 Regular Decision Discussion Thread

@Chrysanthemum14, @LViaLViaquez, Congrats! Did you both receive the hand-signed e-mail from the CHE director informing the releasing date on 3/31?

@ccbreeze if you mean the one sent out a few days before the likely and diversity letters were sent, then yes!

@LViaLViaquez, Thanks for confirming. Received nothing from mail. Only the hand-signed letter days ago… Which part of the country do you live in?

@ccbreeze NYC

@liv101 yeah, I’m a CHE applicant too. I wouldn’t really worry about it too much, since the people who got the LL’s are mostly diversity/WIE. Honestly, there are a lot of other people in CHE waiting to hear back, so dont over think it! :slight_smile:

For future years’ reference: Women in Engineering, Diversity, and Dean’s Scholars (who come from all schools/backgrounds etc) letters are sent around the same time in mid-March.

Received letter in the mail that I’m a Tanner Deans Scholar:)

Accepted (LL, technically) as a Tanner Dean’s Scholar!

@glasshours @Fuzerabit - Apparently 3/40 of them are on CConfidential lol.

@Anonymoose3
Haha
I know !
I was thinking the same thing:).
Hopefully see you at the visit day!

Got a Tanner Dean’s Scholar letter as well! Make that 4/40 : )

Does anyone know exactly how hard it is to get the letter about Tanner Dean’s? I’ve tried reading some stuff on here, and it sounds like they nominate a lot more than 40 people…

Sorry I’m late to the party but OMG just got a likely letter in the mail! Was also nominated as a Pauline and Irving Tanner Dean’s Scholar! super excited. I’m in PA btw.

Very curious about the stats for these scholars. If anyone wants to share, feel free! Congrats to all who have received the scholarships!!

@CAMidwestMom - Typical stats of an Ivy League applicant (2250+, 780/800 on subject tests, 4.0s, top 10%). I /did do research, though, and the letter mentioned something about a research grant, so maybe that’s why I got it…?

Also, does anyone know if this guarantees that you’ll be a scholar, or is there still an app process involved? There’s a 99% chance I won’t be going to Cornell, so if my declining my acceptance right after I get it means that someone else would get the money, I’d do that.

Late to this thread, have RD for hospitality program been made? Is it mail or email?

@CAMidwestMom
GPA (weighted only): 4.64 (slight upward curve from A- to A on hardest curriculum available) (school does not rank)
SAT I: 2400 single sitting
SAT II: 790 Literature, 780 U.S. History
Lots of ECs with leadership roles, as well as fair amount of awards. Pretty strong essays/LORs imo.
Planning to double major in history and theatre
Alumni interview went well… she told me she thought I’d be a good fit for Cornell
Hook: Double legacy at Cornell (which I’m sure helped)

@Vermont2016yikes some decisions went out in early march…the rest of acceptances/rejections/waitlists/ gt offers will be released on Ivy day

Hi,

My son applied to Cornell and is also applying for financial aid and something a bit “odd” happened. We submitted everything thing that was requested on idoc but then some other document requests appeared on his “to do” list. One of them was for the non-custodial parent’s w-2. That wasn’t something listed in idoc when we signed in. Did anyone else have something like that appear on their “to do” list or did other people have that requested via idoc? It just seemed a little strange that it was added on and i’m hoping it means he’ll be receiving good news in the near future.

@glasshours (@CAMidwestMom) - I also did research, if that provides another data point. College of Arts & Sciences. I think we get it - no app process.

And it seems @16elir brings it up to 5/40… If that number is to be trusted.
