Cornell Class of 2020 Regular Decision Discussion Thread

I got an email about an unsigned fin aid document not too long ago, but I don’t know if it means anything.

@CCSenioritis If you applied to ILR RD and checked Spring Admissions even though they don’t have that, is it still possible to receive a GT. I didn’t get any letter in the mail, but applied to ILR RD

@CautiousOptimist No, admissions decisions are already made. My D works in admissions office. Don’t send anything else in or call. It’s a done deal. You will all find out on March 31 at 5 PM eastern time. Just be patient and good luck. There really is no magic formula, so stop comparing yourselves to each other. It’s too much torture! You are all unique in your own way and if Cornell feels you will be a good fit for their school/program/major, then fantastic. If not, it’s not the end of the world. You will find a school that’s right for you. I know it’s not easy to wait, but remember, the admissions are very competitive and this year it will probably hover around 13% I’m guessing. Not great odds, but better than HYP…

@theniqqa23 If they don’t have Spring then you can’t get that option even if it was a box option on the common app. However, ILR does give GT’s so yeah it’s still possible to get a GT

Poistron311, thank you for info on Cornell Engineering stats.

Thank you, altmusicman.

Jaxson, no, not a breeze. So many talented students. Waitlisted Rice, WSU, Case. Denied EA Stanford (not a big surpirse, but still disappointing) Admitted Notre Dame (a very special school), Vanderbuilt, UConn (our state school) Georgia Tech, and Northeastern. The last 2 with generous scholarships.

Hey guys, just wondering how competitive is Cornell compared to Johns Hopkins? In general admissions, and in engineering ones. Thanks

@ZealousGirl - JHU 2016 RD acceptance rate 10.1% while Cornell 2015 around 14%. I think engineering stats are similar.

@TiggyB62 Would you happen to know roughly when they finished making decisions?

@orionsagittarius They finished decisions between the first and second week of March

Do all ivies send out LLs? I’m an international and received one from Columbia, but not from any other school (I applied to all except Dartmouth).

@CCSenioritis Is this the same for all the Ivies?

I’m not 100% certain, but I believe that someone told me that Cornell sent out an email saying that they may be releasing decisions in April. Can anyone confirm this?

I didn’t get any email from Cornell yet.
Did everyone receive an email telling you when the decision is released?

I didn’t receive an email about release date (CAS).

Hey, I dove pretty deep in this thread and couldn’t find an answer. Do y’all know how the decisions will be released, as in how we access them? Every other college I’ve applied to has sent instructions about viewing decisions, but not Cornell. Thanks!

@CapYoss fairly positive we just log onto our application portal

i really can’t wait. cornell is my top choice at this moment, been rejected to lots of places, so one of the few remaining hopes

@CautiousOptimist Haha that’s funny. Buuut Valedictorian?? And still worried??? I’m sure they’ll love ya, a kid at my school is valedictorian and he got into Cornell through a likely letter,or diversity letter, I’m not sure but he made it. I feel the same way, and hope they take us both.
