Cornell Class of 2020 Regular Decision Discussion Thread

With a 2200 SAT (M: 750 W: 760 R: 690), SAT II Bio M: 780, SAT II Math 2: 800, and SAT Chinese: 800, 96.6% average (so about a 3.9-4.0 GPA) what are my chances? My EC’s are pretty solid and i actively do research at a local university, swimming captain, etc. SORRY in advance if this chance me thing annoys anyone, but this wait is literally killing me haha.

The grades and test scores get you into the “eligible to be admitted” pile but after that its a totally subjective decision. Essay is very important. They want you to stand out in some way other than grades alone.

Here’s an interesting link, it has an ex Cornell admissions counselor giving his point of view.

https://www.reddit.com/r/ApplyingToCollege/comments/3fmqfm/hi_im_nelson_ure%C3%B1a_i_am_a_former_admissions/

Link seems to be edited by college confidential to block the reddit.com portion of link and not working from this post so if that happens try googling for " reddit nelson urina former admissions counselor

@asiankid88 there really is no way to tell, I think. With those stats everything probably comes down to your essays and recommendations

Thanks guys!! :slight_smile: Good luck to you all!

A little comic relief, guys.

Did anyone apply to IARD? Seems like a pretty tiny major, pales in comparison to HumEc/AEM

@Venice1 thanks, it really gave me relief

I don’t have the same gpa or sat as you guys have posted, so I often feel as if there are other applicants who deserve admission over me l

Has there been a way in the past to view Cornell admissions decisions early?

@Anguishedsix50 Can’t you wait 1 day?

@Anguishedsix50 unless you’ve gotten an early letter of some kind, nope.

@grimx98 @LViaLViaquez Ok, I was just curious because Yale messed up in Early Decision and applicants were able to see their decisions the day before. Carnegie Mellon and Georgia Tech also made similar oversights this year.

Yo when do y’alls decsions come out?? I need a roommate and there isn’t even a class of 2020 group on facebook yet.

Has anyone who applied to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) received a likely letter?

@davidwaloo Thursday March 31st at 5 PM EDT

@mihirt19 Whoa so soon? I wish all of you tremendous luck :slight_smile:

@davidwaloo there is a Class of 2020 Facebook page… do facebook/groups/CornellUniversity2T19/ (add the .com)

Watched the Movie “Acceptance” on Youtube with my wife last night. It was a short (50 min) but surprisingly well-made movie about applying to Ivies. Guarantee Cornell students/parents would cringe.

I’m more worried about my financial aid info since I already know I’ve gotten in. I hope they meet my need to my EFC cause it would suck if I couldn’t afford to go to Cornell ;-;
