Cornell Class of 2020 Regular Decision Discussion Thread

@mprut0987 So… since the acceptance packets are already sent out, does that mean the international students who have not yet received an email telling them there is no aid is bound to receive some aid? (I’m so nervous about this aid thing I’m grasping at straws.) :-S

I’m also an international student accepted to Cornell who applied for FA. So does it mean that I would have to wait until the packet arrives via snail mail? That would be way over the decision date… Hopefully we can see our decisions online. And no email as of yet, hoping for aid!

@EvenfallsWolf From what I’ve heard Cornell delivers mails using UPS so that shouldn’t take long. For example they calculated a week for me and I live in Eastern Europe

@kappabetagamma : what’s the problem with cornell? :slight_smile:

The OP of this thread received the email notifying him that he/she wasn’t awarded any aid on 3rd April 2011.

On this thread, MMMM93 received his/her financial aid offer on 3rd April 2012 though I’m not sure if he’s an international applicant. Abcs28 also received an email regarding the lack of financial aid award on the same day.

If there’s a correlation there, the emails to students that are not selected for aid have yet to go out I guess :confused: we can only hope for the best…

@jf2580 Did you get the email about the transfer option? Hey are forming a group on Chatter. I have no idea what that is, but the details will be out soon. Good luck!!

Hey all. Is there a FB group for the class of 2020 or is it just the CUOnthehill?

Do waitlist decisions all get notified on the same day or can you be notified early if you are in the school of denied?

@CAMidwestMom yes, Im pretty excited about it. I thought I would definitely get a out right rejection, but it kinda surprise me a little since my SAT is weakest part of my application.

@jf2580 My son was in the exact situation. He tried the sat and act and just couldn’t get his score up. He did apply for a Communication major and that is his strong area. I think he was genuinely shocked!

Was anyone else accepted as a Hunter R. Rawlings III Cornell Presidential Research Scholar?

So is being wait listed better or worse than GT? Do I still have a chance, I’m wait listed SHA?

@deliman i’d say worse

@IfnousWHO I’m in the exact same position!! I rly hope it’s a mistake or something bc I need aid and I submitted everything on time and to the IDOC – it says everything was received…I emailed them about it but haven’t heard back yet!

Does anyone know what a Cornell Tradition Fellow is?

@itsmyusername http://commitment.cornell.edu/tradition

How is Cornell’s financial aid? My EFC according to the FAFSA is around 9k, and my only reference for need-based aid is UNC-CH, which would cost me about 20k excluding loans. Could I expect Cornell to give me better or at least similar need-based aid?

Has any international students (specifically Canadian students) received their admission package yet? I was wondering when they would arrive…

Unfortunately, odds of wait list acceptance at Cornell are very low (2.26% per CollegeBoard stats; 81 accepted out of the 3,583 wait listed)… Best of luck!

@Random404 haha nope I was using GT as an abbreviation for “guaranteed transfer” :slight_smile:
