Cornell Class of 2020 Regular Decision Discussion Thread

Got an offer from the director of admissions herself with an enticing offer to transfer as long as I maintain a 3.5

I’m going to just stay at the university of washington though to save money for med school

GT is only better than WL if you would be willing to transfer after a year. Some would, but others would rather stay once they start elsewhere.

@liesa981 I’m international (Eastern Europe) and just received by FedEx the official letter of acceptance. The package doesn’t contain anything about financial aid in it.

@dianaDM @liesa981 I’m in the same situation. I’m guessing they’ll email us soon if they’re not offering us any aid

I’m assuming no aid decisions for GTs? Was hoping to get an idea before making my transfer decision

My son’s FA just came online this morning.

@alycea14 we won’t get financial aid info. But if you use their net price calculator it is VERY accurate.

@Dragonflygarden Has your son received an email?

@dianaDM No I just kept checking the FA page.

Cornell Days registration just opened up also.

@Dragonflygarden I just logged in on the FA page and it still says Inquiry access denied :frowning:

@dianaDM Ours was doing that all the way up until about 9am this morning. We still don’t have an email from FA. Keep trying.

I’m an admitted international student. Received my acceptance letter by mail, with no mention of FA. Just says “Office of Admissions and Financial Aid” at the top. Didn’t get an email also. And when I open the portal, it says “Inquiry Access Denied”.
Once I learned more about Cornell, I LOVED IT. Now I’m really scared that I get no FA.
Does anyone know when FA comes out?

I just received my FA, and there is a >$12k difference between the grant they gave me, and the grant that was calculated off the NPC. :confused: I used the exact same information from the 2015 tax forms on the NPC. Is there any way to contact them about this?

@Chumps Are you international?

@dianaDM No, domestic.

@chumps Do you have any other peer school FA package offers? Cornell says they will match other Ivies, Duke and Stanford. If not then you don’t have much leverage but can call the FA office and talk to them.

I just read this information :
“International financial aid decisions are determined after admission decisions are made.”
http://admissions.cornell.edu/faq/financial-aid-offered-international-students
Do you think we have to wait after they are done with domestic students or something? I am from eastern Europe too and in my acceptance package there was nothing about financial aid. I am really worried as well. @dianaDM

@Dragonflygarden No, I was either rejected or didn’t apply to those schools. There is an almost $10,000 difference between the EFC when I submitted my FAFSA (w/ 2015 tax information) and the EFC they listed on my FA letter. Would that work as a discussion point?
