Cornell class of 2024 Transfer Option

Would you be able to PM me? I emailed admissions today because CALS is my dream school since I want to major in Food Science and Information Sciences and I just can’t think of going somewhere else.

@aishew I haven’t received anything from SHA. Pm me on reddit (pr2024)

@cbjs44 I actually have alot of questions about TO, could you pm me

Anyone get it for dyson?

If you guys are taking the TO offer, how are you guys choosing your freshman year school? Are you basing it off of TO requirement class compatibility, financial cost, or college experience/feel (in case you decide to back out of the offer)?

Just got the TO for Dyson. Still on the waitlist. This is crazy

@applicant7890 I think I am taking the offer and I’m planning on going to my state school to save money. I also like the school, so if I do back out, I won’t hate it there LOL.

@pr2020 @hyto760 I also got transfer option for SHA!

did you get the email yet?

Congrats! PM me on reddit (pr2024) and we can chat!

Do we know if Cornell will send out TOs to those that were waitlisted in the coming weeks?

I have a feeling that they may send out TO notifs to more people after May 1 because that’s when the application for people who got the TO during RD is due (for CALS - not sure for other the schools when the form is due). I think they’ll send it to people on the waitlist accordingly (based on how many students want to go through with it from the first wave of those who got the option) so maybe sometime between May and June?

There is no due date for TO…typically it looks like if you don’t get called off the waitlist, you will then get the TO.

Oh, I wasn’t sure, it said this on the form + the CALS website: “Should you decide that you would like to pursue a TO to CALS, please submit the TO Form by May 1, 2020.”
"Candidates who are offered a TO must reply to the CALS Admissions Office using the TO Response Form by the deadline to confirm their interest in this offer. Candidates who do not submit a response to the TO offer by the deadline are no longer eligible to participate in the Transfer Option. " May just be for CALS then - sorry!

I have not heard that Cornell offers TO to non accepted wait list applicants. Those are two different things.

there seem to be deadlines for Dyson, SHA, CALS, + ILR for the TO confirmation form
Dyson/SHA: “If you did not submit the Statement of Intent form accepting the transfer option or if you declined the transfer option, you would need to begin a new Cornell external transfer application if you reapplied.” (I think this is the form that you get soon after decisions come out for RD)

ILR: TO Requirements “Submit a final official high school transcript to Cornell by July 15, 2020. The Transfer Option is contingent upon continued excellence in any schoolwork now in progress” (so if you get TO from WL, it would probably be between May-June – at least for ILR + CALS?)

CALS - May 1, 2020 (see above)

CAS - none?
CAS: “Do I need to let anyone know I’m interested? No, you do not need to do anything at this time. If you are interested in applying to the college, you will apply later this year. - (around Dec 2020)”

CHE - couldn’t find any specific info

I’m not confirming anything about when ppl from WL could get TO, just giving my best guess based on the dates! People last year got it in early-mid June

I went through a lot of searches for this haha, you can get rejected off the WL or get TO if you aren’t accepted for the fall! this is the difference in the WL emails that people got last year

WL TO:
“The admissions committee recognizes your academic talent and potential for success at Cornell and would like to extend to you an opportunity to pursue our Transfer Option (TO) … after successfully completing one year of study at another college or university.”

or

“This Transfer Option (TO) is offered to a select group of candidates we believe will take best advantage of a [(Cornell) school name] education”

WL rejection:
“If, after a successful year or two elsewhere, you continue to believe that Cornell may be the right school for you, we hope you will consider applying to transfer here. Cornell enrolls between 600-700 transfer students each year, and you will find information for transfer applicants on our website: admissions.cornell.edu.”

(also people got TO from the waitlist around 6/14-6/18 last year)

I am sorry…CALS may be different. I received TO from CHE and its states …I do not have to take any action and the offer is valid for one year.

CHE…only reply if you do not want to pursue TO

anyway…I’d rather be on the waitlist because you still have a really good chance of getting in (especially this year)
