cornell decision email: wrong submitted date?

heh, even if this crazy thing were true, why are we assuming "perfect" times as the seperation here, such as 12:00, 1:00 and 2:00. If a computer was uploading, the "cutoff" point could be some completely random number that we have no way of finding. you cant just assume the hour alone is the cutoff.

i don't mean to rain on your parade guys.. but my grandfather works with the admissions committee and i received a likely to the engineering school for civil engineering.. my time was 2:44.. I believe there is no correlation between the times and decisions.. i'll call him tomorrow

oh my god, I think I love you. Now I'm slightly less depressed.

Either way, I'm going to wait to see how the theories stack up before I check my decision.

Finally! Someone who says something usefull.

Thanks mariusz, but I don't think your grandfather would be allowed to give that info out since other adcoms wont tell you if you call them....

"i don't mean to rain on your parade guys.. but my grandfather works with the admissions committee and i received a likely to the engineering school (although i don't plan on enrolling) for civil engineering.. my time was 2:44.. I believe there is no correlation between the times and decisions.. i'll call him tomorrow."--mariusz360

AMEN BROTHA/SISTA! I have some (most probably false) hope!

CAS.. 12:24

I thought I had a pretty good chance.. (2250SATI/800,800SATIIs/4.0UW/decent everything else/school sends like 10+ people to cornell each year)

lol now I'm not sure anymore... leaning towards a rejection

^They are definitely not going to reject you. If you had good EC's, and if they didn't accept you, they would waitlist you in order to see if you still want to go to Cornell or if you want to go to some other school, like Princeton, Yale, Stanford, etc, because Cornell wants to protect its yield rate.

omg beautifulmind that sounds like washu....im hating that school for waitlisting sooo many people that chances of getting off the waitlist are small

I have made a revision in my General Theory of Cornellivity. At first I thought:

12=accepted
1=waitlisted
2=rejected

Now, I think since so many very well qualified students who may go on to other schools like Harvard, Princeton, Yale, etc fall into 12, and many likely letters fall into 1, and a kid with a grandfather in admissions plus a likely letter falls into 2, I now think the following:

IT IS TOTALLY, FRICKEN RANDOM!!!

So what do you think?

12:26

2290/760 math2/740 USH 4.0 UW, Top 3 (CAS)

Sorry to put more wood on the fire:P

I was starting to get depressed.. my time was 2:04.. and a lot of ppl either had way past 2 o'clock or 12ish and 1ish. If they did it by rejection, I was on the rejection list first or something? lol. I hope it's completely random XD Guess I'll have to see Mon.

I hope cornell isn't waitlisting some of the best applicants...isn't it called "tufts syndrome"

how about- ALL ACCEPTED! since CC is so awesome :)

I'll go for that. They can totally afford to admit all of us in this thread and still have lots of leftovers for other people to fit into the class. :P

Hey guys my time was actually not 12:26- mine was 12:33... it may be different, because I'm an international...
but I thought I had a good chance, but one can only hope (2190 SAT/32 ACT/4.2-4.3ish GPA) and I have a LOT of activities/leadership positions in them; Governor's School... but who knows, college decisions are so random >:[ especially this year!!

Haha, well, CC is pretty high up there ;)

Heck, usually only overachievers are this OC :)

I got a 35 and I'm a 2:00 time for CAS. There are so many other ways they could organize it we could just ramble about it forever or accept that it has no impact.

What email are you guys talking about? I didnt get any from cornell, nor have I gotten one from stanford. Is something wrong with my email?

Ugh yes I think we should admit that the times are just random...
although I did get rejected from Duke and Stanford, so it would be reassuring if the 12 times did actually mean acceptance :p

hmm...goblue10nis u probably are right
