Cornell-Early D, CALS chances

97.3 Weighted GPA (our school doesn’t give non weighted gpas or class ranks) with heavy class load at a top 100 US ranked High School in Pennsylvania (public), a huge upward trend with a 99.3 GPA Junior year (top 15%). 1380 single sitting SAT (720 M, 660 R); the average from my HS for acceptance into Cornell is like a 1370. Eagle Scout (with bronze palm), Service Club President and founder, Asian Studies Club President, 4 years (12 seasons) of running with two years as a team captain, Habitat for Humanity week long mission trip, work experience, 5 on AP US History test, very strong essay, with about 1000 service hours, NHS member, National language Honor Society member, Korea Exchange participant, with pretty strong letters of rec. white male.

  1. What's your writing score in the SAT? The SAT has been out of 2400 for years.
  2. I'm afraid that GPA is meaningless to me (and many posters, I would imagine), as it's weighted and lacks context. I'm sure your school offers some sort of calculator to convert it to a 4.0.
  3. Your ECs seem average for Cornell. Are you a recruited athlete anywhere? That might be a difference-maker.
  4. Have you taken any AP classes besides APUSH? Most successful applicants to schools like Cornell have at least 5 AP courses (or an equivalent courseload-IB classes or college courses, for instance).

I’m not going to risk chancing just with the information you’ve posted above.

  1. Cornell does not use writing scores, but it is a 740
  2. My school does not off an unweighted GPA/class rank; the 15% is a guess
  3. For running, recruitment is not final until fall of Senior year
  4. My High School only offers AP course load to senior, at most a junior could take 2 AP classes, but it is extremely anomalous Also, because you don't even know that Cornell does not accept writing SAT scores, I would rather not have you 'chance' me, for you are clearly not knowledgeable in the field. And I'm taking five AP classes as a senior

It’s odd that your school’s average is a 1370 as it is towards the bottom third of Cornell’s SAT range. Does your school have a lot of athletes going to Cornell?
Do you know the average GPA of students who got in? If so, are you within that range?

EC’s are very good, and if you were a recruited athlete, I’d say you would have a high chance of getting in.
