Hi guys, it seems strange that this morning all the IDOC materials from my list just vanished and my parents did the IDOCs without the Cornell Email a week ago but the IDOC materiales always showed as initiated until today on my list. So could it be possible they have already received my IDOCs? Additionally, my FAFSA, which I submitted on October 3rd, is still on the list as initiated so I’m confused.
I think they are just swamped and behind. I have everything done and nothing has been removed from the to-do list yet. I suspect they have 2000 ED applications to deal with plus FAFSA is earlier than they are used to.
My FAFSA was removed earlier today, leaving only IDOC on the list. Just a heads up for anyone interested in the financial aid team’s progression.
@Euler21 Thank you for sharing you interview experience. I have read nearly a hundred threads on various topics over the months and yours was the best practical advice so far. I had my phone interview with a very nice man this afternoon and it went about as well as it could I have. I was still nervous but your post gave me a few extra things to think about and had written down in case I needed to refer to them. For anyone else reading this with an upcoming interview, obviously everyone is different, but be yourself, remind yourself you are just having a conversation, not a job interview, and imagine you are just shooting the breeze with a fellow alum (professionally of course). I would say mine went well and I certainly didn’t give him anything negative to write about me. Knowing something specific about Cornell definitely helps and let them feel like they are helpful is also a good thing. I didn’t just wait to be asked questions, I asked a ton on my own and he loved answering them. I think he talked more than I did.
What did you wear to your interview? Mine is at Panera and I don’t know how casual to be.
@hleeigh I wore dress pants, flats and a turtle neck. If you’re a boy maybe a dress shirt and slacks.
Just had my interview!!! I was kind of awkward but she mostly asked questions I expected. I talked about my multiple campus visits and how I reached out to alumni who shared my major. I was really nervous because it was in person so I hope that didn’t make me look bad.
Just to be clear, even if you applied to CAS, you still got contacted for an interview? I thought that the interviews were only for certain schools, not including engineering and CAS.
Confused about this IDOC stuff, I havent gotten an an IDOC id and all my stuff just says initiated, should I call them?
Did you guys give your interviewer a copy of your resume?
@Shrilkshire If you completed FAFSA and the Profile thing from Collegeboard, those should be gone from the list entirely, and Collegeboard will send you an email with the code. How long ago did you complete them? If it was awhile ago and they’re still on the list I would call, but if it was only recently it should be gone soon, as they work weekdays. If your FAFSA and Profile are gone and you only have the IDOC stuff listed, you should call. IDOC should say “Ordered” instead of “Initiated” when the code is sent to you. If nothing changes by Monday I would definitely call, because I called about a similar situation and they said if I had any issues they would look past the deadline. They’re super nice. Good luck.
@Jaysawwwwn I finished FAFSA a month ago and CSS a week ago, is that long enough to call?
Hope it went well! My D also applied to CoE and has her CAAN tonight.
I’ve been locked out (i think) of my applicant portal. I tried changing my applicant id and pass by having a new one emailed to me, yet I still cannot log in. My log in says “Single sign on cookie is too old to satisfy request. Please log in.” Does anyone have any thoughts or is anyone experiencing the same problem?
@Shrilkshire I would definitely call. They would let Collegeboard know to send you an IDOC ID once they see that those two things have been completed. When I called they took something off the list they haven’t gotten to yet because it forced them to look at my profile, so unless there’s an underlying issue a call would likely solve your problem. If there is an underlying issue, however, they’ll tell you what’s wrong, help in any way they can, and probably extend your deadline.
@lourveamerican I think that’s different than having an incorrect username or password. The applicant portal is very weird and I can’t access it on my computer because of that same reason. The only way I get it to work is using my phone instead and going to the financial aid to do list page on the Cornell website, hitting log in to check status, and then navigating back to the original application status page. Does typing your information in wrong give you a different message? Because if it does, that means you’re not locked out and you have the right info, you just need to find a convoluted way to sign in… I don’t know why it’s like this or if everyone has this issue, but you’re certainly not alone.
@OCNYmom did you get contacted for this interview? I’m in NJ, applied to CAS, and didn’t get contacted for one yet.
Under my to do, I have a lot of stuff that say “initiated” (Federal Tax Return Student/Parent and Aid Application Certification), while my IDOC says “ordered”. I was wondering if those were meant to be there? My familiy finished the FAFSA in early October, and we already did the IDOC and CSS profile so why are there still items on my financial aid to do list?
My son applied to CALS ED but haven’t been called for an interview. Is that a bad sign? Does CALS give interviews?
If you guys go to past years’ results thread, there really seems to be no correlation between received interview and accepted/deferred/rejected. Based on the class of 2020 ED results, there seems to be many who received interviews who were deferred/rejected and many who did not who were accepted. So I guess interviews don’t really matter.
