@AparentAA you cheeky boy

@reformedman I’m a girl but thanks just the same.
“A few days prior” BE LESS SPECIFIC I DARE YOU
Did anyone get an email with directions or nah?
AHHHH! This feels like waiting for ACT results, EXCEPT A HUNDRED TIMES WORSSSSEEEE!!!
@raven7363 I’ve been thinking a lot about your question regarding coping. Here’s what I have decided for myself. I spent half a day a couple months ago shadowing a professor of biomedical engineering (my major) at Johns Hopkins. My ED application decision came down to Cornell or JH and I chose Cornell. Anyway, she taught me a lot that day, not only about soft tissue engineering and biomechanical processes, but also about keeping things in perspective about my future. Always look long term she says - not just the next 4 years. This woman did undergrad at her state college after being rejected by Carnegie Mellon, but got her graduate degree from MIT and her PhD at Harvard. So, to paraphrase her advice, she said don’t worry about where you get your undergrad because 90% of your classes just prepare you for a more advanced degree, but it’s your summer jobs and internships that prepare you for a real job. In other words, if Cornell rejects us as undergrads, then so be it. Just kick butt at another school so you can apply for your dream school for a graduate degree - including Cornell. The acceptance rate for the graduate program is much higher. Most of us are going to need at least a masters nowadays anyway - at least in my field.
So yeah, I will probably have short term disappointment, but at the end of the day, I’ll need a masters degree and can pick and choose where I go to graduate school, assuming I have done well the first 4 years somewhere.
@cotopaxi Wow thanks for that awesome response! Your right. I guess I’m gonna have to find a way to stay motivated, even though the rejection will sting for a while.
BTW, anyone here applying to Human Ecology? I’ve seen a few people on here but not many.
In reality, how strong is a donor connection? Are these donor connections able to make a lesser application stand out? This girl I know applied to a school (Duke) with like a really strong donor connection (I think the person who donated the most in history of Duke) but with less than average scores. How much can this connection actually affect her decision?
I’ve been reading this thread for the past month or so and have yet to comment, but I can’t believe that decisions are only 3 days away! Im one of five students from my school applying, so I don’t know how things will turn out… but, hoping for the best. Can honestly say I have NOT been sleeping and have been super anxious the past few days. Anyone have any tips for getting through till 5pm on Thursday?
@blahbluh Honestly I would find ways to keep yourself busy. There’s nothing you can do about the results anymore, so you might as well focus on your homework and other stuff. However, while I’m saying this, I’ve got absolutely 0 hw and I’m freaking out about Thursday. Sooo yeah I got nothin. Let’s just all be anxious together!
@raven7363 just started binge watching The Office… lets see how this goes!
nah
LMAO I’ve been binge watching Breaking Bad, and I see no reason to stop now lol
