I’m ready to apply transfer to Cornell lol
could you please share your stats ? rejected here and want to learn my weakness
Hi! I am applying RD and have a specific question:
on the Cornell admissions website, they say that ALL SAT scores are required, so I’ll be sending in my 3 composite scores. But it seems unclear – do I have to send in all of my subject test scores as well? I have two that I did significantly better on that I will be sending to other schools too, but all my other subject test scores are <600…what are you guys planning to do? Or, if you applied ED, what did you send in?
Thanks!
I think they want them all and when you go to send them through college board and try to eliminate some scores, even if they are subject tests, from the report you might get a pop up telling you that this school does not permit score choice. You can still eliminate them, I think, but they want you to know it’s not what the school wants.
If it were me, I would just call and ask admissions. Whoever answers the phone should know for sure, and they won’t ask your name. I agree it’s a confusing policy and it’s different for ACT test takers too, I think.
Don’t think $10k will do it. Trust me
Hi yall! Im a RD applicant to CALS. Do you think it is allowed to send in two of my subject tests, and not my SAT? Im planning to use ACT, but I still want to send in subject tests.
In addition, I just created a thread for anyone who is applying RD to Cornell if one already exists, please let me know!
They will ignore them I think. CALS does not consider subject tests
Any news on the acceptance rate in ED for the class of 22? I see that all the ivies were mostly up on number of applications and generally lower on acceptance rates for ED/EA. Has Cornell released any numbers?
@letour Many ED/EA acceptance rates are posted on http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/2040062-college-admissions-statistics-class-of-2022.html#latest as they become public.
@letour I heard about 6300 students applied and they accepted about 900-1000 so it is a record low. I heard this from college counselor
DECISION: ACCEPTED
School of Hotel Admin
SAT: 800 math, 650 reading
GPA: 97/100
RANK: Top 10%
ACTIVITES:
- MUN
-DECA - President NHS
-Editor in chief school newspaper - competitive sport
- orchestral instrument
- internship at MT Bank
- academy of finance
- volunteer work
REFLECTION: I know my stats are a bit low for the school, but I think that the Hotel school in particular was looking more at the recommendations, experience, and essays, which I feel were my strong suits. I was lucky enough to have strong reccs from a professional bank manager and approached the essay very artistically. I didn’t go into the specifics of my extracurriculars but I believe they also compensated for my grades.
I’m with you

@rugby1562 did you get in?
Just wanted to comment about sending subject tests. Since Human Ec says they aren’t necessary, my D did not send them. They weren’t bad, but why send 730’s to an Ivy League if they don’t want them? But we do think all regular SAT and ACT scores should be sent to Cornell. Only subject tests if the Cornell college you are applying to wants them. That’s how we interpreted it.
(Aware that this is totally unrelated to this thread but wanted to add clarity and insight for future lurkers)- I am an RD CALS applicant and I actually contacted Cornell this summer about subject tests. They replied:
“You are welcome to submit your SAT subject test scores and they will be included in your file for review along with your other materials.”
Other materials I have reviewed also indicate that SAT Subject tests are indeed considered for admission if provided when applying to CALS or other colleges at Cornell which do not require subject tests.
@SuperGymnast_04 , do you think 730 for Bio E and Bio M should be sent? they are in the mid 70-80 percentiles approx., but my D didn’t sent because they aren’t above 750. She’s Human Ecology. Her other 2 don’t make sense to sent because she scored higher on the regular SAT in Math than on the Math II Subject Test, and her Chem is a 690. The only ones in question would be the 2 bio scores. Any thoughts?
I could be wrong but, realizing it’s sort of ambiguous on their website, you might have no choice but to send everything. I thought they wanted entire SAT testing history which includes SAT I’s and SAT II’s, even if they aren’t required for your school. You would think they would make this clearer because I feel like every year people aren’t sure what they want.
I hear you @collegemomjam. We interpreted it as not having to send the subject tests because I think it actually says “subject test not required” on that info. sheet that breaks down the details for each school. She took the SAT one time, but had she taken it multiple times, she would have sent all of the SAT 1’s. The only school she applied to that was crystal clear about all tests AND all subject tests is Georgetown. They recommend 3 subject tests, and my D has 5 because she tried to get that Math II one up.
Don’t get me wrong, I think she did fine on them. But for the super competitive schools, she kept the subject tests out because they weren’t required or even highly recommended (except for Georgetown), and she didn’t score super high on them. I am not even sure if Admins are aware of the percentiles of each test or if they just go by the scores being higher or lower than 750, or higher or lower than 700 (like a general thought they have)??
