Cornell engineering first quarter report

Cornell Engineering does not require a first quarter report, but it does say they “strongly recommend” it on their website.

I don’t really want to submit my first quarter report as I currently have an 88 in Linear Algebra(but all A’s in everything else). Would it be alright if I don’t send my first quarter report to Cornell? How much would they count this against, me, especially coming off of “online” school?

Obviously, if you choose not to submit something that they “strongly recommend” you submit, you will be negatively affected.

Our school actually operates on a semester system, but we are given the option to submit first quarter reports to colleges that do not require but do accept them. Problem is that since we operate on a semester system the grades are nowhere near finalized and we still got a lot of big assignments coming up right after the first quarter reports are due.

For example, I’ve got a big Linear Algebra test that can bring my grade back up to a 90+ but that test came exactly one week after grades are finalized.

To be honest, I think you are better off submitting. If you don’t submit, they may assume your grades are much lower than all A’s and one 88. Plus, the 88 is an Linear Algebra, which is no piece of cake. Are you taking any other mathematics courses? If you are and have exceptional grades in those courses, I would submit. Good luck.

This year I am not taking any other mathematics courses, as I have finished all of my high school’s AP and honors math courses by junior year, and Linear Algebra/Multivariable Calculus is the final math class in my school.

A’s in both AP Calculus BC and AP Statistics last year with 5’s on both exams with a 5 on the AB subscore. Calculus BC wasn’t too hard but Linear Algebra is absolute hell. I feel it depends on how much colleges will be taking “COVID grades” and how much they will weigh it with my AP scores.
