Cornell Fall 2017 Transfer

I sent in my college report with my college transcript yet the transcript is checked off but not the report… under this link- https://forms.admissions.cornell.edu/webform/admissions/submit.php - can I send my report under any of the transfer applicant document options? Do you think the college report can count towards “college course descriptions” or “supplemental info”?

This college report is the one provided by common app which is basically just a gpa and signature from my registrar

@terr24lr I would wait for them to tell you its missing. In the next week or so, I expect them to catch up on these checklists and get back to us all with what is actually missing. You can then submit it without penalty, and you could ask them exactly that, whether they’d prefer it electronically or through snail mail again.

Same thing happened with mine at Stanford. Sent the college report and another document (can’t remember what) together. The other document was marked received like a week after sending. Took the report about three months before it was marked as received.

College Admission Offices are weird places.

@jojowetzz At the top of their website (“check application status”), it says this: "Fall transfer applicants: Please note that transfer admission decisions are communicated on a rolling basis beginning in mid-April. Applicants will receive an email when decisions can be viewed. "

Last year, the first decisions came on 4/19, a Tuesday, which was almost exclusively GT’s (with some exceptions), who were almost exclusively accepted (with some exceptions).

4/26 (the next Tuesday) was “Rejection Day”, with one or two exceptions

5/3 (the next Tuesday), 5/10, 5/17, and even 5/24, decisions came which were a mix.

I would expect the decisions to come out 4/11 at the earliest, but more likely 4/18, which will be 95% or more GTs getting accepted. Then the following Tuesday (either 4/18 or 4/25) being “Rejection Day”, with every Tuesday after (5/2, 5/9, 5/16, 5/23) more decisions being posted.

For ILR, does anybody think they are going to do interviews? They put it in the ILR Transfer guide that someone from the Alumni Network might contact you.

@mjr2013 people started getting decisions way before 4/19

@litlhoward2468 not people on CC that I found… Only one got theirs before 4/19, and it was a luck of the draw phone call.

Peeps I applied to Human Ecology, Policy Analysis and Management to be exact, as a rising sophomore but never took a bio class. The website notes that the required course for Human Ecology is 6 credits of bio. Do you guys know how much they consider the completion of these required courses?

@joonyblue12 When I called CHE admissions I was told that, if admitted, it is possible to complete certain required classes over the summer. At my current uni., course spaces go pretty quickly so I was worried that this would be a problem.

Do you think you could post your stats?

Im applying for Arts and Sciences

Thank you for the add and good luck to ya’ll

Hey guys! My current university is on a quarter system and I read that we can submit the “Midterm-Report” with a note stating that we are on this system, since our grades will be reflected on our most recent transcript. I was wondering if you guys knew if we still had to collect our professor’s signatures, to make this document complete? Thank you!

@yassgirl yes you do. Needs the professors’ signatures.

Thank you! @mjr2013. I just received an email, stating that in this situation, you don’t need the professor’s signatures and you only need to make a note that winter quarter has ended!

@yassgirl I’m sorry, I misunderstood your question. I thought you were saying you were sending in mid-quarter grades rather than mid-term grades, in which case they still need signatures.

If it’s all on your transcript, then that makes sense.

My apologies again!

@mjr2013 Oh its okay! I appreciate your response!

@NotAMathlete

So we can take the required course during summer in Cornell right? If we do get in…

I am a rising Sophomore. An international student. My HS stats are 3.72GPA with 34ACT. Decent ECs. Decent Essays.
My current university doesn’t do GPA so I got two Aplus, one A, one B, one Cplus (…) in my first semester and sent a mid-term report with 3Aplus one A one Bplus.

The COO for the company I work for was willing to write me a letter of recommendation. I decided not to send his because I already sent 2 professor recommendations and 2 professional/mentor recommendations. My questions is, would it be weird for him to call admissions to recommend me over the phone? He and I have worked very closely over the last few years and I was thinking he could say something along these lines:

“I found out that Mr. X has applied to transfer to Cornell. I understand he has already submitted 4 letters of recommendation and does not want to over-do it, but I would hate to miss the opportunity to recommend him personally. Mr. X and I have worked closely on several operational initiatives during his time at the company…”

Then he could go on about my performance and how we’ve worked together. He is totally willing to do this.

What are your thoughts? I appreciate the input!

@jinzo000 This is my personal opinion, you should not do this rec. First, Cornell doesn’t even require rec letters for transfer admissions (though, I personally sent 2). 4 is already a lot for transfer admissions for a college that doesn’t require any, and unless this recommender says something that is really really different from the other 4 than I would not recommend it. I’ve always thought that rec letters are kind of redundant because its really just an endorsement, its not like they would write anything negative about you, just my two cents.

@Mastodon97 Thanks for the feedback! I’m pretty certain Cornell requires 1 letter. At least that’s what was on the Common App. I definitely don’t want to over-do it. 2 of of recs were from professors, 1 was from a Cornell alumnus who I work with, and the final is from a director at the company that owns the company I work for. The professors were each able to write about ther personal experiences with me in the classroom. The alumnus was able to recommend me based on my work with him. And the director wrote about my passion for business and interst private equity through my hands on experience with the firm. I believe each letter is unique but I hope I didn’t already over-do it.

Thank again for the feedback!
