@CollegeIsHardxx You’re admitted to that specific college. I don’t think that you can switch majors, until after you already start at that University, although that is hard to do as a transfer.
@CollegeIsHardxx Hey, I think you’re able to change it within the specific school - especially if you’re going in for like business. I’m still waiting on Cornell’s decision but I got into the University of Richmond and when I checked my transfer credit evaluation it appeared as undeclared. But it might be totally different at Cornell, I don’t know ¯_(ツ)_/¯
It depends. Some majors/concentrations/colleges are more competitive. So for example it’s not easy, if even possible, to go from psychology to finance. Its easier, but still hard to go from marketing to finance. On the other hand, it should be possible to go from finance to psych. If you’re a junior applicant, then there is not a lot of room for switching stuff.
@Vincent1997 Exactly, that’s what I meant by specific school - especially business. It’d be very simple for me to go from Marketing to Management or Business Analytics - even as a junior. Now, if you want to go from Music Ed to Computer Science, it wouldn’t be possible. I imagine you’d have to reapply to that particular school and take a bunch of extra classes to prep for that major.
@transfer9692 Right, so we agree haha I understood @CollegeIsHardxx question as him wanting to switch majors after already being admitted to a specific college, which he can’t. Unless he takes a semester and then applies for an internal transfer, which is hard.
I’m in the same boat regarding high school transcripts. I requested it from my HS late February and now Cornell can’t find it, so I have to ask my high school to resend but they are on spring break so… ¯_(ツ)_/¯ And to make matters worse, my fee waiver hasn’t been processed yet so my application can’t even begin to be reviewed.
@daidai16 I sent my high school transcript at around the same time and it’s not checked off for me either. Do you know for sure that they can’t find it, or are you just assuming that because it’s not checked off?
I sent my high school transcripts the first week of March. I know they were sent because every other school I applied to, had them checked off as received by March 11th. They still have not been listed as received on my Application. I have called numerous times, and they have indicated they have stacks of documents still to process, but I am very concerned, since they have already begun going through applications, and mine has not been sent anywhere since it has not been deemed complete. It seems like those of us with this issue are at a disadvantage. Cornell is my top choice, I need all the help I can get, this is not helping!
@bklyngal I HAVE THE SAME QUESTION! Only that I missed more materials. High school transcripts, college report and mid-term report. I keep waiting but I’m really anxious about this. USPS said they are received at least two weeks ago. I don’t want my app to be thrown out or compete for the last couple spots in the near end. I’m thinking about calling if I need to resend it.
@bklyngal @clairen I know a friend who sent her transcript in January and it just got checked off a week ago. I understand how anxious this can be because I wake up at 4am everyday to check the portal LOL. But I am sure everything is fine. Have faith in the admissions officer. They did tell us that they will let us know and give us time in case a material is lost. I also asked if our chances would be lowered since its a rolling decision and they said no. The only downside is that we’d have to wait for a longer time to find out our decision.
I was in the same boat, so I emailed the college and asked about the missing documents, the next day they were updated in the system. I recommend emailing or calling to ask them.
when is ILR going to release first decisions?
@jc11211 That seems like a coincidence, since they tell everybody the same thing, that they’re still processing documents. Calling/emailing them will just slow them down.
@nkn400 you would think it would, and yet I don’t believe in coincidence. the squeaky wheel gets the grease.
@nkn400 When I called Cornell last week about my application I wasn’t even aware that my high school transcript was not in their possession – an officer their told me to resend it. At the moment, I don’t have access to the checklist on the portal because of my unprocessed fee waiver.
Can you tell me how you make them check your documents? Cos when i called, this lady flat out told me she can’t check if they received something or not
@idekidc The woman that I spoke to strongly urged me to resend the transcript - I didn’t really ask her about it specifically. However, I’ve been calling almost everyday regarding the status of my fee waiver and I basically just ask if I can get an update on that.
@Boroboro thank you! This makes me relax a little. I called today too and they said the exact the same thing. Now we wait.
In my portal it’s still shows that they don’t have my college report, should I call them about it?
@mohamedali0923 Yes, I think you should call Cornell to ask them about that. I would also contact your school registrar (or whoever you asked to complete the form) and double check that they appropriately completed it and send it to Cornell.
