Cornell FinAid

So I must have misread and been in an idiot mood or something because I seriously screwed up. I thought I had all my financial aid stuff done back in February, but I got an email the other day saying I still haven't sent my Parent's Tax Returns. I thought that by sending copies to the College Board for the CSS/Profile that I would be satisfying this requirement, but obvious that is not the case. I am faxing the forms over tomorrow. How long should I expect to wait to get my financial aid package?

expect to wait for another 15 days or so if you’re lucky. The deadline was feb 15.

Thanks. I am fully aware that the deadline was February 15. I had everything in by that point, but didn’t know that I had to send them a copy of my parents’ tax returns directly. It would have been nice to receive a notification that they had everything EXCEPT that sometime before April.

well they did tell you beacuse it should havve been listed as missing on your financial aid to do list on the check application progress webpage

and i dont think youre the only one with some missing info who sent it in recently

So i’m in the same situation, i somehow didn’t send all my materials! But on a side note, does anyone know how they actually notify you of your financial package? Is it an email, or on the student login service or…?

I got my financial aid package in a packet in the mail, except I’m assuming it was sent by either next-day or two-day shipping since I had faxed over one document they needed a day or two before I got it.

I sent my stuff last 8 days ago. I was missing my entire parent tax return forms and W2’s, so I expect it to take a lot longer, but I hope I get it by the end of this week before spring break.

Cornell sends aid packages by mail, so expect it to take a while, esp if you’re living outside the US. All the same, Cornell’s relatively generous with aid, so I wouldn’t worry too much if I were you. If you need your aid package early, send the FAO an email saying you didnt get it yet and they’ll send you a soft copy of the aid letter.
