Hello everyone!
I just have a quick question about Cornell’s finaid process. Got an email from Cornell on Friday stating that I am missing their finaid application certification. I wasn’t aware of this before, as when I was completing my IDOC in the beginning of November, the document wasn’t listed (after completing my IDOC I never checked back for new forms cause I thought I was done with it).
That being said, I already uploaded the missing doc onto the IDOC website, and for good measure sent the physical paper express to the Cornell finaid office (should arrive by Monday).
I completed my FAFSA, CSS, and IDOC in October/early November.
Does anyone know if this might affect my chances of getting aid? This is really bugging me because my mom’s single and doesn’t earn a lot so if I don’t get enough aid I wont be able to attend :’(
Thanks in advance to everyone that replies!!!
I got an email Friday and was missing something too apparently. They don’t just cancel your aid a day or two after ED results because one or two forms. As long as you did FAFSA and CSS they have enough to work with. I’ll bet they already have your aid package ready. They just can’t send it until all the forms are in. I suggest calling them when they open on Monday. Chill. They aren’t looking for a reason to cancel your acceptance. They want you. :)>-
@cotopaxi thank you so much! This really calmed me down, I was so nervous about financial aid haha
I never got any email from the fin aid office, nothing whatsoever. I’m really freaking out too, especially cuz my family’s income is <$50,000. Anyone else who got accepted but didn’t get any notification about aid?
@holdencaufield007 Dude, you’ll get aid. It’s only been 72 hours and half of that over a weekend. I thought it was funny that financial aid office closed on Friday. I’m sure it’s because they annually get a lot of panicked people calling wondering why they didn’t get an email with an aid package. We still have 9 months before school starts. I’m sure it will get worked out for everyone before the enrollment deposit deadline in January too. Instead, spend your time window shopping on the Cornell store so you can ask your parents for a bunch of gear this holiday. That’s what I’m doing. I’ll be decked out in Big Red this Christmas. LOL
@cotopaxi The office was closed on Friday? Well that explains a lot! Thanks for the reality check though, I often need somebody to (virtually) grab me by the shoulders and yell at me to calm down. Hah, I wish I could get Cornell gear, but sadly I live in India and my family is hindu so we don’t celebrate the holidays with a lot of zeal. We do get a Christmas tree though!
@holdencaufield007 Best of luck with your financial aid stuff! I’m a bit nervous for that too, but @cotopaxi is right, I wouldn’t worry too much about it!!
