Hi,
I am an Early Decision applicant to the CAS(CoE for secondary). Today, A member of the CAAAN contacted me for an interview, or informational session. I know it does not help my chance but I just want to do well. Because I am an immigrant who occasionally fails to understand what people say or to speak in a "normal" manner, I just want to prepare myself!

Dress Code? I am planning to wear button down shirt, jeans, and white shoes.

What questions do they ask usually? and What questions did you ask?

Any difficult question that you had a problem with?

I heard that only some applicants who are at the borderline of "accepted" and "rejected" get interviews. Is it true?

1) do you have dress pants instead of jeans?
2) It’s informal – they are trying to gauge your intellectual vitality and initiative. Do you have an original thought? Or are you just a book slave.
4) there is no time to pre-sort applicants before sending their interview info out to the volunteers. You can be a shoo in or a zero chancer – the interview system does not differentiate.

And by dress pants, a pair of khakis from Old Navy will be completely fine. You do not need ‘dress pants’ dress pants, but I agree that I would avoid jeans. As to white shoes, do you live somewhere that it is still summer?

The interviewer is not there to pass judgment on your attire, but I am replying since you inquired.

I agree with poster above that there isn’t time to differentiate between likelihood of admission before distributing the interviewee contact info. Several students on the Cornell 2018 ED thread keep repeating this but it is not true.

You may want to bring your resume with you if you are concerned about the flow of conversation. Certainly be prepared to discuss why you would want to study in A&S vs Eng. I assume you are applying for CS?
