hello, i did this because someone told me to.

Yo Yo Yo, somebody post please. And how did Johns Hopkins get red.

you know what might be somewhat helpful......sat, sat ii, act, anytype of standardized testing scores? and your extra-curriculars are somewhat weak, jhu is highly dependent on ecs fyi...but yea i think anyone willing to evaluate you needs scores..

It looks like you're off to a good start with your GPA and courses, but your EC's are very weak, unless you are planning on perfect SAT scores.
Anyway, it's pretty impossible to tell without knowing your AP test scores, SAT scores etc.

Holy crap, you had like 90 posts the other day. Now you're up to 138. Sick.

And, yeah, what everyone else said. Need tests and ECs.

Yeah I'm home since I got out of the hospital and I'm bored. Sad huh.

Alright I'm bringing this thread back to life since I found a sophomore on here.

Oh and my only test scores are a practice SAT, 1510 (760 Verbal, 750 Math).

Wow! Those are really strong scores, esp. for a sophomore. I'm surprised that you got a 1510 on a practice test, but only a 168 on your PSATs (equivalent to an 1120). Were you feeling bad that day? Let's hope that you do just as well on the actual SAT. You'll probably do even better, since you have a year to sharpen your skills. You'll probably be a National Merit Semifinalist/finalist if you keep up this trend.

You've shown improvement in your GPA, and colleges love seeing students who have shown progress. Your weighted GPA of a 4.4 is pretty respectable for all of the schools you are considering applying to.

Your EC's are not as weak as some of the people on this thread believe. Nowadays, adcons want to build well-rounded classes full of students who have excelled in one area--in your case the piano. So it's ok if you're not the president of 8 clubs, have 800 volunteer hours, play 3 varsity sports, etc. But still, the EC department needs improvement, so it's a good idea to do an internship or take college courses over the summer. BTW, did you choose any of the biology-related internships for high school students that I suggested on your previous thread?

What classes did you take freshman year, and how did you do in those? You are doing pretty well in all of your classes so far. Are pre-AP classes normal college preparatory classes or are they like honors classes? Your projected courseload for Junior and senior year are pretty rigorous, so it's good that you want to challenge yourself.

As for your recommendations...it's good that the the recommenders have connections to some of the most prestigious schools, but you should also get ones from teachers in classes you've done well in (preferably from junior year teachers). Also, does your Johns Hopkins VP from elementary school know you very well? (my elem. school VP probably doesn't even remember me, haha) Have you kept in touch with him since elem school or are you asking him only b/c he's an alum?

Also, give a resume of any honors/awards/acheivements to your recommenders.
Does your h.s. do class rank?

Cornell: R/M (Cornells's and Johns Hopkins acceptance rate iaround around 30%)
Johns Hopkins: R/M
UCSD: M

The Hopkins guy was a friend of my dad, different then the VP. I don't know what college the elementary VP went to but yes we have kept in touch.

What about U Chicago, their acceptance rate was around 40% this year I think.

By the way, you haven't replied to the private message I sent.

U of Chicago would be good match school for you (given that you continue your trend and score as well as or higher when you take the New SAT). You're only a sophomore, so you have time to improve your ECs. Make sure to have your piano instructor write you a recommendation, and send your piano recordings to the schools you apply to.

Make sure to get adequate sleep and eat a good breakfast before you take the New SAT. Maybe you scored unusually low on the PSAT because you felt tired.

Yeah, listen to the story.

I woke up and showered and left without eating breakfast. I went to PreAP Geography and my teacher asked, "Aren't you taking the PSAT". I said yes and ran down to find out what room to go to and then took it.

lol, am i that sophomore? =p there are a lot of sophomores

I guess most of them don't tell it like I did because I'm always slandered when I tell that I'm a sophomore.

im a sophmore

Cool. I'm glad there are some of you on here.

yo yo yo post post post
