Re the GWC program app.
It would seem to me that if you already submitted the online portion you could ask for an extension for emailing the letters of rec and transcript as no mention is made on the website.

As for airfare, I doubt it's included, but I do believe that they pick you up from the airport. Even though you have to pay airfare, you get a $1500 stipend so it will certainly be feasible.

Bringing the conversation back to NBTC... did anyone on CC apply this year or attend in previous years? I sent in my letter of intent this morning. Thoughts, feelings, advice?

^ I have yet to find a person on CC who has attended and I have searched rather extensively. With only 10 admitted per year, the likelihood that one of the more recent participants was a CCer is sadly slim :(

haha i JUST found out about it last night and i hastily wrote something this morning and shoved it in the mailbox..mines was 1.5 pages single spaced
it says we get to know by april 11th. can't wait!

haha mine was exactly 2 pages, but it was in business letter format, so the addresses and such took some space...is that the format u guys used?
i wasn't sure whether to brag or not though

ye i used business letter format
idk i guess we should brag because that's the only way they know if we're "qualified" or not, right? since all we submit in terms of academics/ECs is our GPA.

basically yeah sell yourself in the essay thats wat i did

April 11th seems way to far away. @ Ice: don't we submit our transcripts? And yeah, I did a bit of bragging in the letter but I used it more to talk about what I was interested in rather than making in an inflated statement about myself.

smart.cookie you're scaring me, did we really?? i just mailed the letter of intent and filled out the online app, but i didn't send them an unofficial HS paper copy of my transcript

^ no you are right. Sorry I was thinking of GWC internship. I applied to so many that all the applications are blending together in my mind. Sorry for the scare!

hmm I just submitted mine in essay format.. oh well

I hope it's not that important; from what people said earlier in this thread, knowledge about nanotech isn't required, and all the stuff needed for labs will be taught there.

I applied too. I didn't sell myself. I just wrote exactly what they said to write about. I really hope I get in. I didn't know that only 10 people get in. That's most likely the reason they pay for everything. Oh well, good luck to all who applied on CC!

thanks tman. no i don't think we do research, i believe there's like a set curriculum thing we follow (one of the alums told me), and it's usually the same every year
