Cornell Premeds: Volunteering at local hospitals

Are there hospitals that students can either work or volunteer at?

umm...no, there are no major hospitals. IMO you should become an EMS since that provides a lot more hand-ons experience. In my experience, volunteering at a hospital is rather unfulfilling since you don't interact with the patients very much, run a lot of errands, and generally just sit around. Also, there are a lot of research opportunities at cornell, which also are a better experience.

You can volunteer at either Cayuga Medical Center which is the major hospital servicing Ithaca or at the Gannett Clinic on campus.
