I am one of these research scholars, anyone joining me in the program and can anyone inform me about this program???

here's the site you can go to for information:

well, so does this scholar thing help me out a lot or is not worth the trouble, b/c it seems extremely interesting, but a lot of work at the same time....?

This is a very prestigious fellowshipt/scholarship, whatever the hell you want to call it...especially if you are thinking of doing research in the future (i.e. grad school as opposed to med-school)...Most of the Presidential Scholars I knew when I was there went on to top notch grad schools

CU grad, if you do not mind me asking you, if you do well at Cornell, your doors are wide open for the best of the best grad schools, correct?

Having served on graduate ad-coms, I can tell you that a strong transcript and research experience from Cornell will put you at the top of the pile every time. I'm a biologist (ecology and evolution) and when students were selected at the programs I served (Cornell and the University of Miami) they were selected not only from the standpoint of grades and gre scores, but also on intellectual ability (how well do they think in their chosen field). Schools with outstanding track records for consistently producing excellent students in my field include, Cornell, Harvard, UC Berkeley, U of Chicago, UC Davis, Duke, U of Texas...the list is large and I could go on, but believe me, if you do well at Cornell, you will have a pile of grad schools from which to choose come graduation.

collegekid1988,

Trust me, it's worth it. It's going to be a lot of work, but it would be one of the best experiences of your Cornell career. Some of the professors usually don't take freshman or sophomore into their lab. But, if you tell them that you are a CPRS, they are very likely to take you as a freshman. Also, you can always use CPRS's money to support your summer research.

I guess you don't care much, but I feel so ******: I'm an international student; I was admitted to both Cornell and the presidential scholars program. However, Financial Aid put me on the waitlist for assistance and I have not heard from them since. Since there is no way I can make it to Cornell without this significant funding, I won't be able to make use of my offer :(

So is this program really that prestigious? How many freshmen are offered this chance?

50 to 60 scholars per freshman class, which is 3000. So, 2%.

I only wish that I had a chance to get this fellowship sigh. I have to thank luck for this!

Wow, i was one of those 50 scholars, thats pretty cool.
