A likely is a letter that lets you know that you are likely to be admitted. ILR starts late feb/early March.
do we know if these likely’s have gone out for ILR? thank you
ILR doesn’t send likely letters they send acceptances. Same with SHA. Last year they came on March 4-5. I don’t know if people get accepted on the regular Ivy day, but no one on College Confidential got accepted in late March they were all rejections or transfer plans
For applicants to colleges that do not send early notifications: according to Princeton’s admissions office website, Regular Decision results will be posted on Wednesday, March 28, at 7 p.m. eastern time. I guess that’s the same for Cornell too, per ivy league policy.
@Hephaestion do all the Ivy league universities release decisions at the same time? (historically)
On their websites, they say that the decision release date is the same but there isn’t anything about the time.
@IlluminatiIsReal I am not a counselor, and I don’t have data across many years. However, if you check CollegeVine or websites of the sort you’ll see they all tend to release decisions in the same time window.
This year Cornell is deviating from the norm and releasing on March 29. I emailed my regional rep about this and it says the 29th on the CAAAN calender
@Kd6410 I’ve checked the CAAAN calendar as well, but I think it is for general reference only. I’m not sure if Cornell would violate the Ivy League statement and deviate from the norm, but I can’t see if there’s any penalty for doing so… so, nothing’s certain before we receive any update from the admissions office
Maybe, but I emailed the rep a week ago and she said
Thank you for your email. Decision notification will be sent on March 29 for all colleges and schools.
I think Ivy League just says the colleges can’t release earlier than 3/28, so any time between 3/28 and 4/1 is OK.
Wait then why does Yale, Princeton and Harvard applicant portals say decisions are on March 28th
Does anyone know when SHA decisions come out? Or at least when were they released last year? Also, do they only mail those decisions or are they also released online?
@HERCULES_HERCULES So does the “likely” letter basically mean “you’re in but I’ll tell you for sure later”?
@yayaylearner he was saying that decisions for ivies will mostly come out on the 28th, but would be allowed to come out any time after till 4/1, so cornell’s day later date (if true, idk about that) would be within their rules… sort of.
@justtrynagraduate someone earlier said that it comes out before the rest of cornell… idk if true, or the specific date
@MrElonMusk the likely means “you’re in, but we aren’t allowed to officially tell you till later, don’t worry unless you have an epic fail, as in get bad grades, get suspended or arrested, or something beforehand”
@MrElonMusk – you have quite a track record and should def. get in!!! I mean come, Elon Musk??? :-j
@MrElonMusk yup! it means you’re in, they just can’t send a letter of admission until ivy day. The likelies usually come in disguise as like invitations to the diversity housing. However, it will directly say that you’re in or likely to be admitted
any likelies for CAS?
i saw last year that ILR decisions came in the mail approx. 3/4-3/5.
One of my friends received her likely from Columbia yesterday-- do Ivy’s send out likelies around the same time?
@freshmesh167 relatively the same, from late January to early March, exactly when and how many changes school to school.
