Cornell RD Class of 2022 Applicant Thread

re: Interview. I think it really depends on if alumni are in the area. My son just interviewed yesterday. They met up at a coffee shop. It was about an hour. More conversational than a formal interview. When my son interviewed with WPI it was more formal because it was with a traveling representative from the school itself, not an alumni.

College of Arts and Sciences RD applicant! I wrote about my interest in political philosophy and combining philosophy and computer science in nearly 650 words.

For the people who are done submitting IDOC documents (CSS) and FAFSA: does your status on your “to-do list” show that Cornell has received the documents? I have submitted everything since November and it only shows “initiated”
Should I be worried?

Are you notified of a potential interview through an email or through the Cornell Applicant portal?

@CSinPA through email

When do mid-year transcripts need to be sent in by?

Guys! Have you all received application confirmation? I didn’t receive it so do not have login criterias for Cornell RD.

I dont have that as well! @yeachelsea

yea, i have

Did you remember to send in supplement?

@nhsstudent123 Thanks! The email arrived today!

@freshmesh167 My school sends mid-year grades automatically to colleges once available.

My portal shows items received now. Must be what initiated CAAN interview.

Yesterday, I got a call from an alumni asking if there’s anything that I’d like to add anything to my application. I know that I’m probably overthinking this, but does anyone know what this means? Did anyone else get a call like that?

Didn’t get a call.

@squid5 That was one of the questions in my interview. Are you remote, where an alumni might not be close enough to you for an in-person interview?

No, I’m in the mid-Atlantic region in an area that isn’t remote. I’m guessing that it was just supposed to be like an interview without actually being an interview.

@squid5 they call it an informational session. It is not meant to be evaluative

okay, thanks for the information. it wasn’t really informational like my other non-evaluative interviews have been, as she didn’t ask if I had any questions about school, but we just talked my activities and said that she’s going to type up what we talked about and send it to Cornell. she said that the purpose was just for me to add anything to my application if I wanted to; for example, when I talked about my poems that have been published, she asked if I wanted to send any of them to Cornell.

Has anyone submitted the CSS and FAFSA but not showing in the portal? I submitted a while ago

Does CALS offer interviews? No email or call here so just wondering. In a big metro area in the South so the area isn’t crawling with alums but I know there are some. . .
