Cornell RD Class of 2022 Applicant Thread

@MaizeScream Prison Break was good

Do Cornell SHA mails out all decisions by early March?

Damn the decision comes out on April Fools day… I hope the admissions officers don’t play with my heart

Doesn’t Cornell release decisions on Ivy Day which is supposedly March 28th (according to Harvard and Yale Applicant Portals)?

good to know – I have one coming up soon too !

Hi, does anyone know when Cornell will let you know if you are eligible for the Eop/Heop program?

My daughter (applying to CALS) just got invite for an informational meeting with a local alum. Just FYI that folks are still being contacted, in case you were wondering. I’d kinda figured it wasn’t going to happen because I know many folks were contacted weeks ago…

And, wow, this is a quiet thread for such a large university! Maybe everybody applied ED? Yikes.

Good luck to all!

My D had her alum interview this past weekend- how it’s scheduled just depends on the availability of the alum I believe. It was very low key- she enjoyed it. She was asked what is her planned major and why the interest. He told her a lot about his experiences. She had a few questions she prepared in advance to ask. Sounded like a great experience. He let her know that they report back whether candidate is still interested in admission. Of course she is- applied for engineering- this is going to be a long couple of months!

All ivy league schools release decisions on the same day. @steponsani I just checked the CAAAN calendar, which is for alumni to monitor their progress in interviews, and it says decisions will be released on March 29

@Hephaestion it is going to be March 28th as per Harvard and Yale’s applicant portals

Just to add a bit about the CAAAN interviews, my D said that after her initial choice time and place was taken, that the organizer in our area actually suggested a specific alumna who currently has her own D in Human Ecolology. The alumna wound up actually being an MD which was a double bonus! The MD alum emailed my daughter and passed on some initial questions to her own daughter who was home on break to answer more specifically. So by the time my D met with her alum in person, it was very comfortable. They had a 50 min. interview from what my D said. And my D liked that at this particular setting, it was less about her as a person and more about Cornell and what her interests were at Cornell.

So based on everything I’ve read, Cornell CAAAN program is very well organized and carried out as far as their mission to answer any and all questions and to make the applicants comfortable and knowledgeable about their decision.

Bit confused here. I’m a Dyson applicant and I got an email today about an alumni interview. She never mentioned that it was ‘informal’ or ‘informational’ or anything less than official. She also never mentioned CAAAN. Is this what typically happens?

I thought Cornell just does informational interviews haha so I’m definitely unprepared.

I scheduled my “informational session” with the alum that contacted me. 2 weeks past and an hour before the session I contacted her confirming we were still meeting and she cancelled on me. Then she said we could do a phone interview that week and I replied that whatever time worked best for her would work for me. She never replied and I emailed her 3 days afterwards and I still haven’t gotten a reply. What should I do?

Has anyone gotten a likely letter from Cornell?

do any of you guys think that coming from a top 10% private school, a 3.69 UW and 4.01W GPA is too low?

does Cornell send likely letters to non-athletes? if so, does anyone know how many? do all the ivies follow this practice?

Cornell sends likely letters to groups like Female Engineers IMO.

Cornell also has a likely specifically for African American students

@SuperGymnast_04 i’m in the same boat, i sent all my sat scores just because i wanted them to see my sat subject tests, even though my ACT scores were better than my SAT
i don’t think it matters too much, they’ll probably only consider your highest scores

Anyone else applying to ILR? And I do think Cornell sends likely letters but they’ll do it about a month before decisions come out
