@robocop21 Sorry to hear. Surprising given that his stats seem great. Where else did he apply and was accepted?
Accepted Spring 2020 (January 2020). SHA!
@prospie2023 how did they go from a rejection to GT? Did they get an email saying the original update was incorrect or something?
Yo did anyone JUST get a diversity hosting email? I got admitted yesterday and I thought they were only sent out prior to decisions as LL
Is the FA package available yet/where can I find it?
@cugal00 My S got accepted to Comp Sci at Purdue, CS+ @ University of Illinois, Honors Program at University of Wisconsin (Madison); still waiting on Michigan. Very annoyed at Cornell - so are his grandparents. Very disappointing and there will no $ left to the school by any of us!
Not to mention that he has three great uncles that also went to Cornell. In the end, the legacies meant nothing.
He is a great kid and is incredibly smart as well as a hard worker. (Much better student than I was!)
With their push for diversity legacy maybe taking a back set since it’s associated with privilege
@robocop21 Those are great schools. He didn’t apply to other ivys? Great stats, legacy, and applied early. What are you thinking it could have been? I feel bad for this generation. So competitive and stressful. It sounds like he will do well wherever he ends up!
@robocop21 Did your S apply ED or RD? Cornell is very clear that legacy preference is only given to ED applicants.
Previous post says that he was deferred in ED.
@cupugu @cugal00 Yes, he applied early decision to Cornell, got deferred to RD, sent a great letter of continued interest, got rejected. He didn’t apply to any other Ivys. Got rejected from Cornell, Tufts, and Univer of Chicago. He had varied extracurricular and designed/launched a mobile app. Other than having perfect scores rather than his 99%, I don’t know what else he could have done.
I’m a little late but got into cornell!
ACCEPTED (with likely letter, sent on March 15) OOS
Sat: 1570
Gpa: 102.9
Rank: 2 out of about 500
Science and math extracurriculars, some prestigious ones
14 APs by graduation
@mom2twogirls shipping was free for me! There’s an option for free shirt pickup at Cornell but also at the bottom of the list for free usps shipping
does anybody know which group inside the schools look over and decide the waitlist? Is there an admissions group for each of the schools or does the alumni board have an influence at all?
I also had free shipping for the t-shirt as well (regular USPS priority mail)! Cornell is my number one choice (overjoyed to have been accepted), however FA will play a large roll in my decision making process. Should I expect my offer to come at the beginning of this week?
As far as I know, alumni do not influence admissions decisions or have any input as to who comes off the wait list.
My sons came via an email link yesterday so should be soon?
Does anyone know if all the transfer options were sent out and in what format they were sent?
S was WL on engineering. SAT 1600, SAT subject math II 800, physics 800. Only A- from a top 10 public high school, a lot EC and leadership, 500+ volunteer hours. 2 AIME. Unfortunately he is Asian boy.
My daughter received Spring Admit FYSA 2023 for SHA and is accepting it! Would love to connect you and any other FYSA
