Cornell RD Class of 2025

does anybody know when we are getting aid packages?

I got waitlisted, and I am genuinely so confused. If such a small number of kids got waitlisted, what are the chances of me getting off? Commitment day is May 1st. This is such an insane admission year.

and can someone tell me about ithaca i probably wont get the chance to visit in person. is it like one of those hallmark small christmas towns lmao

what are you confused about?

(a) Sorry to hear that - he sounds darn impressive!
(b) He probably got into many not-lesser schools I presume?

Rejected from all 4 Ivys

In total rejected from 10 out of 12 I applied to (I’m int’l needing full aid, from a low income family and gone through lot of hardships)
Just a waitlist at Reed, and last decision is Stanford, where my chances are in negative :joy::joy::joy:

Accepted into AAP

The process for waitlist. And which school I should commit too, and if double committing is allowed.

I’m worried I’ll get bored of the town really easily and not have anything to do. I also don’t have a license so driving isn’t an option for me. I wish I could visit to see if it is really for me. Also what do do you mean by, “charming small town.”

I live an hour from Ithaca and have visited dozens of times (my dad went to Cornell). It’s a small city - it has an urban center that feels like a city, but it doesn’t go much beyond that. Syracuse is the nearest larger city and that’s an hour away. Bottom line is that you’re relatively isolated, but there’s such an abundance of culture, food, activities and stuff to do in Ithaca and at Cornell that you really don’t need to leave the area.

the charming small town has an extensive bus system to get around and a bus into NYC. If you get bored (would you amongst 15k other students?), it’s about 5 hours to NYC for the weekend. See their C2C campus to campus bus information (suspended for covid but should be running by the fall)!

uhhh I think traveling 5 hours is not the most feasible option lol. Is Ithaca a place for young people or is it very much like a cute little family town? I think I will just have to visit somehow. Does anyone know if they are allowing on campus visitors?

I’m from NYC, I don’t drive, most people do not. Ithaca is small town with great restaurants. I thought I would get bored as well, but we spend most of our time attending events on campus or in town. I know this is probably the only time I will live in suburbia, so I am enjoying it. There is plenty to do outdoors as well… hiking, etc in spring/ fall and skiing about an hour away.

Yeah I’m also from NYC and everyone keeps saying how beautiful Cornell/Ithaca is in terms of greenery and how there is a lot of outdoor activities. But tbh nature isn’t really my thing. Ugghhh this is so difficult without actually seeing the campus itself. I am also considering BU which has a drastically different campus (a better one imo) but I like Cornell as a school better than I like BU.

He will likely double major in computer science and something else. I so wanted him to ED there and then seeing and experiencing all the rejections/waitlists and number of applicants, I thought he was not going to get in. He had two Ivys today. First one was a rejection. He is also got Chicago, Michigan, Colgate, Case (with merit scholarship) and Wisconsin. But we also got a lot of rejections and waitlists. This was a painful process and all I can say is no one should take a rejection personally and hardly anyone cares about your college two years in to your job.

Waitlisted!! Does anyone know if the waitlist is binding? I want to accept my spot on the waitlist but I don’t want to be committed if I get off the waitlist (I got into CMU and I think I want to go there even if I get off the waitlist at Cornell).
