does anyone know how selective this program is? i’ve looked around but couldn’t really find an acceptance rate

20% ed 10% RD

@student88888–Your figures are incorrect.

@tangotangerine12

Overall admit rate for SHA for the class that started this fall was 24%. Unless things have changed dramatically, the ED & RD admit rates in SHA were very close to each other when I looked at the numbers five years ago. I do not know ED admit rates by college for any of the other schools, but the university’s ED admit rate is higher than the RD admit rate.

I’m currently a student in the hotel school. It’s less selective than the other colleges at Cornell (24% acceptance sounds about right), but nonetheless this is still Cornell and a competitive program to gain admission to. Everyone (and I do mean everyone) comes in with an edge, whether that be legacy (sibling, parents, and grandparent), their parent owned a hotel, or they’re the daughter of a Marriott Executive (yes, there is a daughter of a Marriott Executive in the hotel school). Consider that when you’re applying to. As much as merit is important to your record, consider what “edge” you can bring to the admissions table.

@do2020 you have the numbers so that’s great, but If I were you I’d focus in on your essays and also interview if you can. I think if you choose to interview that can bring new insight to your application.

@student5430 i think you meant to @student88888 ?

@student5430 Would you say the vast majority has that type of edge? I’m worried to even get my hopes up. I think I don’t have the most typical “hospitality experience” nor are my grades that amazing…

I have work experience. Is that a big plus for the hotel school? What clubs look good?

How many applications does SHA receive ed?

Current SHA student. Can tell you first hand that your laundry list of stuff you just listed means absolutely nothing. You have to have good grades, hard classes, and good scores. You either have that or you don’t there’s no bonus for having a 36 instead of a 32. After that its about industry experience/showing commitment to one or two things that actually mean something towards the hotel industry. If and when you get here you will see how true this really is.

@CCSKE443 do u know the SHA Ed acceptance rate? Also, would u mind changing me?

Did anyone interview yet?

@student88888 i did! but wondering if anyone else did as well

@do2020 I did as well. About a month ago!

Did anyone submit their application

Does SHA require Q1 grades?

Submitted mine today for Eng. What about you?
