Does anyone know anything about this school? All I know is that they accept rather few people (about a hundred each year), but I wanna know about admission chances and what sort of classes one will take?

First off, spend some time on the website and most of your questions will be answered.

The Hotel School is generally considered the best hospitality program in the US. The acceptance rate is between 20% and 30%, and just about everyone who is accepted goes there. The yield is something like 79%. There are usually 160-180 students in the freshman class. You need good grades and scores, but the most essential thing is to have work experience in the hospitality industry (and a glowing recommendation from your boss). An interview in formal business attire is required. Most Hotelies have great people skills and an interest in an applied business education.

The curriculum includes many required courses. You will probably take 80-90% of your classes in the Hotel School. You are also required to complete 800 hours of work in the field in order to graduate (that’s basically two summers of working full time for 10 weeks.) many students have more than that. The alumni network is active and enthusiastic, which helps with landing summer jobs and jobs after graduation.

Graduates of the program started Burger King, Alamo, and Duty Free Shoppers, just to name a few. Students who come out of the program go to work in hotels, at investment and commercial banks, in real estate, at restaurants, at sports venues, etc.

Hope that helps.

That’s very helpful, thank you!
