cornell school of hotel admin

Hi everyone,
My friend loves a career in hotel management and recently found a perfect match for her-Cornell school of hotel admin. Could anyone share your views on this school, its qualities and positions in American hotel management education.Thanx a lot. Besides, is it more daunting to get accepted into this school. than other Cornell schools. I appreciate all your assistance on this matter.

Cornell's School of Hotel Administration is generally acknowledged to be the best of its kind.

It can be the easiest of the schools at Cornell to be admitted to -- or the hardest -- depending on your background. They are looking for a demonstrated interest and some experience in the hospitality business, as well as good stats.

so does that mean that you must have prior experience with hotel management or business related curriculum througout your high school career. Furthermore, what are some prospects for career advancement after you graduate from this school

I think this information is available on the Hotel School's admissions page. They are definitely looking for more than just high school coursework -- but a summer job waiting tables at the country club would count. Apparently even working retail or working for a real estate developer planning golf course communities is considered as 'experience'. It's a very broad field. They are looking for 'exposure' to the industry rather than a certain number of hours.
