Cornell Spring 2017 Transfer

Hey guys! I got my letter in the mail yesterday from CHE saying I’ve been admitted! Thank you for all the support in the meantime and good luck! Hopefully you’ll all get your decisions soon.

@bugsy123 Congrats!!! Very excited for you!

Congrats!

@bugsy12 Congrats!

@bugsy12 congratulations!!

Is it only the CHE that updated the housing portal for their applicants, or are ppl from other majors able to get on housing?

Guys please post stats as well when admitted! It helps for future students!

My stats are as follows:
3.9 GPA, Nutrition/Psychology double major at a City College- One tier up from a community college.
I did a lot of volunteer work within the nutrition field through nutrition education in poorer neighborhoods. I also worked in a vegan bakery part time, and started my own healthy baking blog (I included a link to it in my application).

My high school/ACT’s were not as solid, but I was balancing 8 classes (3 of which were honors) so I think admissions cut me a bit of slack.
High school GPA was around a 3.8, could have been 3.75 I don’t remember exactly.
My highest ACT score was a 30.
I was not very involved with any extracurriculars related to my major in high school.

I think this proves that being admitted to a top tier school doesn’t mean that you have to have perfect grades or standardized test scores, you just have to be interesting, and clearly devoted. Especially Cornell-- They really want students who convey a strong idea of their goals and aspirations. I did a lot of research into the CHE website before writing the essay and I think it definitely made a difference.

Accepted to CHE.
International student
Stats: high school GPA 4.0 Toefl 106 SAT 2000 EDed CHE in 2014 and got rejected
Community College in Boston GPA 3.89 10/10 PS Solid recommendations/ completed all the courses CHE recommended/ had an interview with a transfer admission officer this spring/ Activities: Detoveted Christian church worship leader and piano player/ volunteer at Boston living center/ Toefl tutor

Is there any possibility that decisions are released today?

Able to reset my pin. My decision will be viewable next Tuesday. I can’t log into housing. :confused:

Anyone applying to SHA has your decision available already??

Are you able to view it tomorrow?

Is next week a rejection week? I was told that I could see my decision tomorrow, but I can’t. If some are available to see tomorrow, are those the acceptances? I have a hard time being able to glean info from past threads.

You have very good scores and definitely well qualified for CHE!

I have no idea. When were you able to reset the pin?

@Davemit no, I’ll be able to see it on the 22nd.I still can’t log in to housing. Is it unethical of me to accept at UR and withdraw on the off chance I’m accepted at Cornell? They’ve extended my deposit deadline three times now. D=

Good luck to everyone!

Its not unethical… You deserve to have a good education for yourself and your son!

Awww thanks @Davemit. If I don’t get into Cornell for undergrad, there’s always grad school! They are starting an MPH program fall 2017 which is the Masters degree I want.

@mrsblaileen Do keep in mind that putting down a deposit and indicating you’re attending U of R takes away a spot for another student who may really really really want to go! Even if you withdraw later, that person may be put onto a waitlist and decide to not take the risk of waiting and instead accept a different school’s offer.

It’s entirely your decision, but please remember that your decision affects a lot of other people as well!
