Cornell -> Stanford Engineering

Hi i was wondering what the chances are for a student going from Cornell Engineering to Stanford Engineering. I am looking to become a Chemical Engineer. I am the first-semester freshman with a good outlook on first semester grades so far. If things hold, I can expect at least a 3.63 GPA with an A in math and A- in Honors Chemistry.

Is it best to apply as a freshman or a sophomore? My high school stats were very good with respect to standardized scores, top 5% in class, and a few albeit unspectacular ECs including founding two clubs. Will one semester of college make up for any lacking areas in my high school career?

Btw, I was deferred then rejected by Stanford SCEA this past spring.

I am thinking of transferring mainly because Stanford was my dream school and still is, because although I have liked Cornell, it has not been the fantastic experience I have hoped for. I would like to see Stanford first before making a definite choice about transferring. But I want to keep my options open.

bump .

noone can help me out?

Stanford's got around a 5% transfer rate I think...you'll have a decent shot coming from Cornell Engineering, but your GPA is probably going to actually hurt you. If I were you, I'd apply and see what happens. If you don't get in this year, work on your GPA and apply next year.

Stanford's website says the official transfer rate is 8-10%.

and btw, can you apply as a transfer in your freshmen year? cuz according to stanford's transfer policy, you got to have completed 26 credits,before applying.
