First of all I LOVE Cornell, however, when I was shopping around for a laptop I saw that the Cornell store has higher prices for laptops than the manufacturer websites and even stores such as Best Buy. I only looked in depth into Lenovo thinkpad laptops, and I saw that you could get a lower price for laptops with the same specs if you went to the Lenovo site. This was especially true during the Lenovo Anniversary Sale (alas this ended May 31). At the best Cornell store is not offering a discount at the worst the store is overpricing.

lol you're surprised? The only things I'll buy there are books that can only be ordered through Cornell Store (i.e. class-specific lab manuals) or like pencils if I forget to bring some with me. Search online for computer/tech deals and use half.com/amazon/random other sites for textbooks.

wow i thought the school would offer amazing discounts, lol, i guess i have a lot to learn!

Well, in terms of school supplies, the prices are indeed on the high end. For PC's, it's mixed. You may save hundreds on a new MacBook Pro, but they are certainly overcharging for the Lenovo's and the Dell Lattitudes.

yea, college stores make mugs $15+ (which is absurd)

When I scouted out lenovo prices cornell was a little bit more, but far more convenient.

The one thing I would recommend buying fro them is the microsoft office suite. They are able to sell it to you at a steep discount.

The retailer's mission
is to provide the goods and services
to support the customer's 'habit'
be it pets, eating, studying, computing, etc.
at a fair profit.

The retailer's mission is not to subsidize that habit.

however, the new run of t-shirts is priced rather nicely (under $10 for most of the new styles i have seen)

Sweatshirts from Cornell stores are much cheaper than from IvySport...lol

eh, I bought sweatshirts at Dave and Barry's university apparel. They're exactly the same as the ones the store sells, but I got them at their grand opening for $5 each.

There must be a huge markup on Cornell's sweatshirts.

Actually, the Apple computers that I looked at on the Cornell Store's wbesite are cheaper than the offerings on Apple's website.
