Cornell summer program?

I’ve head a lot about this program and have been a ting to do it for years, but I have a few questions.

  1. How competitive is it to get in? How many people are accepted? I have a horrible gpa, 3.0 unweighted, will that totally ruin my chances?

  2. Will I actually learn something from this? I wanted to take creative writing and psychology.

  3. Do summer programs look good on resumes?

Thank you everyone for answering.

Getting into their Summer College won’t be hard. My kids have done the programs at Brown and thought the classes were great. One of my kids did a rowing camp at Cornell and loved it. The classes will likely be very good! Those types of programs look ok on a resume. They aren’t prestigious, but it does show that you are motivated enough to spend the summer doing something besides sleeping! You may have an experience that will make for a good essay for your applications. Do it for the experience and possibly a letter of recommendation. Don’t think, however, that the Summer College will give you an advantage if you apply to Cornell.
