Forgive my ignorance, but what is the topic/prompt for the personal essay that Cornell applicants have to write? I am currently a high school junior and is going to apply this fall through ED. Also, what is the word limit? I tried to look online but couldn’t find any specific information.
The prompt depends on the school you are applying to. Essentially, these are “why Cornell” type of prompts. Cornell looks for kids who are a good fit for the particular school/program so do your research. My D applied last year to CAS and I think their word limit was 650. I don’t think Cornell has their Fall 2016 admission stuff up yet, but I think (if I remember correctly) that last year their prompts were posted a few weeks before the common app opened up. I would just keep checking their admissions website.
TiggyB62 is right, I’m an incoming Freshman in CAS, and the word limit was 650. Do a lot of research before you do ED anywhere; also keep in mind what school of theirs you’re appplying too… the individual undergraduate colleges at Cornell admit their own students. Feel free to message me if you haave any questions about Cornell or want to know “why” Cornell:P
For the school of engineering, I had to write about either an engineering idea of mine or why I decided to choose engineering (and of course how Cornell engineering would fit my needs). 650 word limit on the supplemental essay.
