Hey guys,
Right now, I am a college freshman and am planning to do sophomore transfer to Cornell. My question is: Which Cornell school is easiest to transfer into/most transfer friendly (based on acceptance rate, number of transfer/year, etc)?
I understand that admission to Cornell is heavily based on the concept of “fit”, however, I just want to have a sense of how difficult each Cornell school is in terms of transfer admissions.
Thanks in advance!
The school that you apply to at Cornell will depend on your intended major. What is it that you want to study?
Right now, it is probably between pre-med/biology or economics. However, for economics, I know that it is in Cornell arts and science school, which is very hard to transfer into, so I’m kind of considering other options at this point.
I believes CALS, ILR, and HumEc take the most transfers, but that’s largely because they give “guaranteed” transfers to people who weren’t accepted for freshman year (it’s not 100% guaranteed, but those people have an advantage against other transfers). Nonetheless, I believe CALS has the largest transfer acceptance rate at around 40% for some years, however, I can’t find seem to find the source for that. I think it’s on another thread around this site. CALS has biology and an applied economics and management major, so that may interest you. Good luck!
Check HumEc for biosciences and for consumer economics.
@happymomof1 By consumer economics, do you mean the fashion design and management major?
@forest2021 If CALS is the “easiest” to transfer into (based on acceptance rate), does that also mean that the applied economics and management is also “easy” to get into (or accepted a high number of transfers)? I ask this because I heard that the AEM major is extremely difficult to get in.
Oh yeah I believe Biological/Environmental Engineering and AEM are the hardest to transfer into, but I’m not really sure to what extent. Guaranteed transfer aren’t even allowed to request a major change to AEM. I would suggest maybe applying to CALS as biology and then minoring in CAS economics or AEM? I’m not really sure if that’s doable, but I think your highest chances of acceptance would be applying to CALS as biology.
