Cornell/UC berkeley

im thinking about applying to cornell for fall 2008. I go to a California Community College and have a 4.0 GPA. I would like to apply to the business school at cornell, but one of the pre reqs is biology 1 and 2. I have all the other ones done, except the bio one. I took anthropology at my community college, would that count as one of the bio classes? And if i did apply without the bio pre reqs how much would that affect my chances?

I guess i could apply to the ilr school. Im also applying to the haas school of business at uc berkeley, and ucla

does anyone know anyone who has gotten into haas as a transfer or the business school at cornell, ilr school?

The biggest reason that people got denied last year from AEM was prereqs. At least from what i saw on here. There is a reason it says "required" and not "recommended". Also, no I seriously doubt anthropology is going to count for that requirement as the course material is not similar at all.

You have a great opportunity at Berk. too, I wish I was a California resident and could go to such an awesome school with in-state tuition. This is assuming you get in of course. ILR would be much easier, there was someone a little while ago with almost identical stats as yours from a CCC that got accepted so I would say you've got a very good shot there.

this prob doesnt answer your question, but def apply to ucb! its so hard to get in and so much for out-of-staters. i would LOVe to go there if i get instate tutition..heh

Biology prereq for business?...interesting...and a full year of bio at that! Sounds like a way for Cornell to limit applicants.

no, it's a requirement for the AEM major itself and not just for transfers.

^^ No its a requirement for all applicants applying to CALS

From the website:
CALS Admissions: Required Preparatory Coursework

"To prepare for studying within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences each academic major has identified key foundation courses that students need to complete- you will find them below- in addition

Students considering transfer are required to complete a two semester general introductory biology sequence i.e. Biology 1 and Biology 2 with hands on labs prior to transfer.

Students are also required to complete two academic writing/English composition (not literature) courses or one academic writing and one public speaking course prior to transfer."

Its required because AEM is in their CALS (College of Agriculture and Life Sciences), you'll also need physics or chem and another science to graduate. I'm thinking of transferring too, so I'll probably have to take bio at a community college over the summer if i get in

dude, I know that and if you had read my post I never said it was exclusive of AEM.

dude this is what you said:

"no, it's a requirement for the AEM major itself and not just for transfers."

the requirements applies to all CALS majors and not just for AEM itself right?
