@ezbreezy8022 wow…0.o

Yeah… There are pretty well established guidelines in place that even people mid-career don’t have a resume over 2 pages… Might come off as overly braggadocious. Probably all good stuff in it though.

Hey guys! I’m requesting a supplemental letter of rec from my internship supervisor. Does anyone know how supplemental recommenders submit their letters to cornell? do they just get a link from the Common app?

@chelliosiro There should be a link for “Other Recommenders” at the bottom of the page

@maryelzz ah found it! Thanks so much!

How competitive is the Dyson school applicants? I know they accept only 7% of students but I also feel like the ACT of 32 is low for a school that only accepts 7% of applicants. How does that admission rate compare to the engineering school? Also, I submitted 3 letters of rec, do you think that is bad?

@USPanther it is very competitive because most of the spots go to recruited athletes and transfer students . It’s easier to get into cornell and then transfer into the Dyson school, according to some current students I spoke to.

A similar question- how hard ( relatively speaking) is CALS to get into? If one was to rank the schools in order of competitiveness what would that look like?"

Its a bit of myth that recruited athletes still are steered towards Dyson. At one point in its early history that may have been the case, but not so much these days. With that said, internal transfer into Dyson is also extremely difficult. This is from the Dyson website: “Please be aware that internal transfer admission is extremely competitive and not all applicants who meet the criteria below are accepted”

Ultimately, Dyson is one of the most fit based majors at Cornell. It’s small size, extremely high rankings, and range of business relevant majors makes it very difficult to get into. It’s likely that 7% acceptance rate will continue to drop as it becomes viewed more and more as a top tier undergraduate business program.

I would have applied to Cornell ED but I did not even know sat ii’s were a thing until a couple months ago. Alas! Oh well, I will just pour my heart and soul into my essays. C’mon Cornell. All I want to do is study math and theoretical computer science until I die. Make a little farm girl happy.

So I already submitted my application to Cornell but I want to switch from applying to dyson to applying to the college of engineering for Operations Research. Many reasons behind it but nonetheless, is it possible to do that? What would I have to do? Would this hurt my chances?

@USPanther You need to call the admissions office and make your request. Get a name when you call and follow up with an email. If you have a compelling reason, they should honor your request.

Remember that the supplemental essay that you wrote was specific to the major you applied for. So you will need to submit another essay.

Good luck.

I just realized that I said I am applying to CS through CALS in one of my earlier posts. I really intended to write CAS :))

For CAS, do they make you send all the SAT II’s you have taken or can you just send two?

I am definitely in no way expecting to get in (it would legitimately be a miracle), but Cornell has been a dream of mine for a long time, so I figured I’d try it!
