Today? Wow, what did they have to say? (though from what I understand it’s not an indicator of preference)
Excuse my ignorance, but what is CAAN?
I was previously contacted by CAAN for a interview type thing a while ago, at a coffee shop near my house. Its an association of alumni who help future applicants, basically
Right, CAAAN is basically a volunteer organization of Cornell alumni that contact applicants for mostly non-evaluative interviews; from what I understand, the process is random and doesn’t indicate whether you will be accepted/denied/waitlisted/etc., and is mostly there to let prospective applicants know what life and studies are like at Cornell. The only evaluative part of the interview is that they do submit a written report on the interview afterwards, but I don’t think it actually comes up in the admissions process. (Please correct me if I’m wrong.)
@kaleseed today? (i mean, you were contacted today? if so…wow, that would mean - i think - that there are still active decisions in play).
I had my interview (phone) a few weeks before the black out period started in February which marks the end of CAAN interviews and contact between applicants and volunteers. I have to believe that someone reads the evaluation that the CAAN volunteer writes otherwise why bother? Whether or not it is a factor in the admission decision I do not know. My interview was more than just the volunteer telling me about Cornell. She asked specific questions about my interests. It was conversational and ended with me leavening a lot more about Cornell and her learning a lot more about me. I did not sign up or otherwise express an interest in an interview. I received an email from the volunteer who initiated contact.
When I check fin aid, it says initiated. What does that mean? It also says ordered for IDOC.
Did any other HumEc applicants receive a phone call a few weeks ago from a student ambassador in addition to the CAAN?
Was your friend an athlete/did they have any major hooks?
@cbschools, my friend got that exact same phone call and she is an extremely qualified candidate.
So, what might be the admit rate for the Business College?
@cbschools What are your stats?
A small unrelated note, my CAAN interview was less then ideal, I’d have to say. I really felt a lack of interest from my interviewer, who also seemed to be a bit introverted. She sorta just read off a sheet as far what campus life was like, her experience, and asked me if I had any questions. Of course, I tried to talk about why Cornell was a good fit for me and whatnot, but I got a distinct vibe that she didn’t really care. Overall it reflected negatively on Cornell, I had 7 other interviews at other colleges, all of which went fantastic.
Hey guys, quick question, where can I find my Financial Aid To-Do list?
@soulsurfer99 go to the app statusand click financial aid to-do list on the side
It still says “No current to do item information found.” Am I rejected since it probably means you got accepted if it says “Initiated” for you guys…
@IndoAmerican pl read the portal clearly. It says if u hv not applied to fin aid or if ur application is complete then this type of msg ll come . So dont worry. Ur appl is complete
@jdh123 Wow, thanks for the link! The reason I say it’s low is in comparison to several of my friends who received near perfects on the SATs. I did not mean to sound insensitive, but I’ve just been a little worried about the 1410 because the people I compared it to had received higher scores. Thanks for the stats and numbers!!
You guys should stop reading meanings into some random other factors such as glitches or twists in the application portal as being accepted or rejected. They could be some genuine faults. Don’t over-stress your self. Just hope for the best. No hyper-optimism or hypo-optimism. Just hope. If you get in good. If you don’t, don’t beat yourself up because it’s not the end of life. Life still goes on and it has good things to offer…All the best on the 30 March,5 PM EST >:D< - (Nobody should ask that again. It’s annoying)…
^Agree. Until you see the words “congratulations” or “we regret to inform you,” don’t assume anything.
And checking your portal incessantly is like checking your refrigerator incessantly. There’s nothing new in there since the last time you checked.
Good luck to everyone!
