Really worried about my grades not being competitive enough to transfer since I struggled last semester and then felt like I spent the first alf of this semester pre-occupied with the transfer process. Don’t know if anyone can shed a light on my chances at this rate
I’ve noticed a lot of the transfer admissions threads are much less active this year. Any ideas why? Maybe people are too preoccupied with everything going on to post in these threads, or perhaps people were too preoccupied to apply in the first place.
Does anyone know if we still have to send in a Midterm Report? My current school made midterm grades optional for professors (as a result, only 2 of 5 posted them), due to coronavirus. Plus, campus is closed so I won’t be able to have them fill in the form. I tried calling the transfer admissions office but they’re closed, so I emailed them this morning and no response so far.
This is just not true. I am an External Junior Transfer into Dyson Fall 2019. I got bord cause I’m now home and no longer at school, and decided to search this thread and stumbled upon this because I was once in your position last year lol. I applied with over 72 credits, Cornell is my third institution of attendance( interesting path to get there) State School—> Community College—> Cornell.
The reason they say they won’t look at you is because the students who get accepted with that many credits are usually very outstanding candidates that have extremely interesting stories on why they took the long route. They say not to apply with 60 or more credits because they realities is its very unlikely to get accepted. From the 50 external transfers that got accepted to Dyson there was like 11 of us that were juniors, and it even stems into a smaller demographic those that came from a community college (6/50 students accepted).
So, Yes they will tell you they won’t look at those apps and to not apply. They didn’t really emphasize it when I applied, nor did I care whether they discourage students to apply.
If you are an outstanding candidate that they need to accept they will accept you. Regardless of standing.
@nr2001 I called about a week and a half ago and they basically told me if I could get the grade and have the teacher sign the form digitally to do that but if not they said it is totally understandable and to write an explanation on the form as to why you weren’t able to get it (just “my campus shut down”, etc). That given, I was missing only one signature so I’m not sure if they would advise you more towards the trying to get it all digitally side. Hope this helps
I’m a bit confused. Are we supposed to have gotten a separate application checklist from the original link they sent already? Or have they not sent those out?
I applied to CALS as a Biological Sciences major. I originally wanted to apply as a Global and Public Health Sciences major but they were unfortunately not offering that to transfer applicants
Any word on the application checklist becoming available? The portal claims that the checklist will be up by late march, so I’ve been checking daily (we’re now in very very late march). It’s the last application for which I need to ensure the arrival of all of my materials (transcripts, college report) and I would loooove to get it off of my list of things to do.
