Cornell Waitlist Class of 2025

Engineering doesn’t accept by major, only to the college. You don’t affiliate in your major until you’ve met certain requirements which can be as early as freshman year in some cases (that’s when my daughter affiliated), so it doesn’t matter that you’re interested in CS on the waitlist. All that matters is that you applied to Engineering and are on the waitlist.

Good luck!!

Oh ok thanks for letting me know!

Appreciate that clarification!

i sent an update two days ago and got a response from someone at the admissions committee for engineering. it said: “your update will be included with your application materials and considered in the Engineering Admissions Committee’s review if we are able to make offers to some of our waitlisted students”… idk if im reading too much into this but the way that’s worded (the IF and some) makes me suss that they’ll even use the waitlist. i have a strong feeling that cornell engineering reached full capacity :((

i think they’re just saying that to remain neutral to all applicants and that they can’t guarantee that they are even going to the waitlist because a lot of people got extended decision days since financial aid is rolling in slower than other years.

Did you email your update or submit it through the portal?

i very much hope that you are right

i emailed it but he said to upload to the portal.

Hey guys, this might be a dumb question but we don’t get notified if we’re not gonna come off the waiting list right?

Also I sent updates through email and portal (for college of engineering) a few days ago and all they said is “Thank you, we’ve attached your supplements to your application”

they let applicants know when they will stop using the waitlist

I did the same thing as you but for CAS and yesterday they emailed me this response:

(my name),

Thank you for your message of continued interest. We will certainly add this to your application file.

Stay well, and enjoy your day.

Sincerely,

Arts and Sciences Admissions

Did you send a few sentences to reiterate your interest or write another email similar to an loci? Don’t really have much to include again unfortunately….

Also, we didn’t get a response last time when we uploaded the loci to the portal…. Now I am curious if they got the loci.

I emailed them a couple sentences about my continued interest, and I mentioned that I had uploaded a full letter of continued interest to my portal. If it says on your portal on the sidebar that there is waitlist correspondence, I think they probably received your LOCI. I got a response to the email I sent, not what I uploaded to the portal, so I think I wouldn’t have been emailed a response if I had just uploaded the LOCI instead of sent them an email too.

Thank you. I want to send them something but don’t want to bombard/annoy them with another lengthy loci. Will send them a short email then.

I also sent a LOCI and I read somewhere it would be be pretty helpful if you kind of included what you’ve done since the application so I basically did the same thing, talked abt how I was still interested and then also like some sentences of things I’ve done since I submitted as supplements.

The update has been included in the loci sent a few weeks ago. Just want to drop another note to express our sincere interest.

Should it be addressed to the both Admission Office and the head/chair of the Admission Committee (and in that order)?

Does anyone know if Cornell is need blind for their wait list? I know that some people include that they’re full pay in their LOCIs and what not, but will someone like me who applied for financial aid be negatively affected by my financial need or not necessarily? Also, I am a US citizen.

Also I am not implying that Cornell is only looking for full pay students to admit off the wait list. I know they consider a range of issues when determining who to offer a spot that have nothing to do with cost. What I am wondering is, will my financial need significantly reduce my chances of being accepted from the wait list or will it really just come down to demographics and which students chose to accept their offers and which students didn’t?

When I sent my email I said “To whom it may concern,” but idk
