Cornellians help an admitted student

I need advice on my college decisions. Please tell me your reasons why I should attend Cornell. If it helps, I will be majoring in physics. I was also admitted to Dartmouth and Johns Hopkins. As I am leaning towards Dartmouth right now, I challenge you to convince me that Cornell is the right choice.

Thanks for the reply. I think that ,regardless of the school, success is a self-driven matter. From what i’ve read online, there seem to be similar opportunities at all three schools. And I’m sure I would find aspects of all three schools I like. And yes, reading back, I sound arrogant.not my intention.
Anyway, 1. why did you choose cornell?
2. if you are concentrating in a natural science, what are some advantages you think that cornell has over similar schools in the natural sciences?
3. any advice in general other than “visit and see for yourself”?

First of all, congratulations on your excellent options. You will get excellent education at any of those schools. Dartmouth has more “prestige” if you want to use ranking, but at a large U like Cornell you’ll have more options for research and take courses outside of your major. There are 7 different schools at Cornell. Dartmouth is more of a LAC. If a smaller school is what you are looking for then Dartmouth probably would be a better fit. Both of my kids, coming from a small private school, wanted to stay away from anything small. Cornell is probably very similar to Dartmouth (location, A&S), except it is bigger. I have very close relatives who went to Dartmouth, JHU and Cornell. They all loved their experience at those schools and they are all doing very well.

Have you visited Johns Hopkins?

I ask because its Baltimore location is very different from the environments near Dartmouth and Cornell. You might like that; you might not. But I think you need to see the campus and the area to decide.
