look here:

Indoor courts only in HN? I don't think that is true. How about Barton Hall, or the New Noyes buidling. I don't think it is lacking at all.

i know newman is very s#$tty.

the bball court is always packed and ppl always play badmington there. ***@!#

you're a real jackass gomestar, it seems like your job is to disprove and invalidate any of my comments on Cornell's facilities.

my basic point is that Cornell really does not have as many indoor basketball courts as it should for a school of its size. also during the winter, when theres usually a foot of snow all around, outdoor activities are not an option, and i'm not interested in working out. the demand definitely exceeds the supply of courts.

unfortunately, there is little cornell can do to improve the situation at least during my tenure here. i still try to play as much as i can, but i just envy the majority of other schools that have better basketball facilities than we do.

"you're a real jackass gomestar. it seems like your job is to disprove and invalidate any of my comments on Cornell's facilities."

way to catch up on my comments 3 months later. I'm wondering if maybe I should just wait another 80-85 days to respond. It is only my job to 'disprove and invalidate' you comments when they're wrong.

If you'll take a gander at what I've written, I have made several posts commenting about what's available on campus for interamural activities, gym classes and the facilities themselves (with a lovely link to boot). I was done with frying you months and months ago, I was trying to help out others who had legitimate questions and concerns.

"my basic point is that Cornell really does not have as many indoor basketball courts as it should for a school of its size"

the number of basketball courts probably matches the athletic ability of the student body.

"also during the winter outdoor activities are not an option"

were you unaware of this upon entering Ithaca?

"the demand definitely exceeds the supply of courts."

but you said earlier that you didn't want to play at the games where people were semi-skilled and apparently too competitive for you. This isn't an issue of demand, this is an issue of not wanting to play.

"but i just envy the majority of other schools that have better basketball facilities than we do"

so transfer one of them. At least here you can rest at night knowing 99.9% of other schools envy the academic prestige and power that comes with a Cornell education. The majority of people would take that over an extra basketball court any day and those who disagree probably couldn't get into the school in the first place. Count your blessings, not the number of basketball courts.

ouch, that was quite the ownage gomestar

are the tennis courts near the freshmen dorms indoor?

k im not at cornell or even in college...but isnt it part of college life to be activists and getting what you want through your own actions...how bout you stop complaining and get together people that have the same complaints as you.

Wow I hope CC provides fire extinguishers...

"are the tennis courts near the freshmen dorms indoor?"

the ones i'm familiar with are outdoors. can't use them dec.-feb. unless you're a die hard tennis fan. right now, you could use them no problem, it's warm enough to with a light jacket and stuff. If you want to play, get together with the tennis club and see when/where they practice in the winter.

"Wow I hope CC provides fire extinguishers..."

i think that baby bottles would be more useful in most cases.

"i know newman is very s#$tty.

thanks harvardman1988

now that the weather's a lot nicer, there are a lot more options out there and I am enjoying them, but my point is if you enjoy playing indoor basketball esp during the winter, you're going to be out of luck a lot of the time. barton isn't a true basketball facility, and when it's closed there are really only 3 courts on campus (2 in Newman, maybe only 1 if there's badminton and 1 in noyes). In the afternoons, you have a decent chance to play, but at night forget about it unless you are willing to wait on line with around 15-20 people on one court. trust me, i'm not bitter or anything, I'm just telling the facts.

And btw, it is not like i haven't done anything about it. I play as much as i can, and even joined intramueral basketball which was a very good experience, just not enough games in the season. I'm also in PE basketball which although good is way overcrowded with a class of around 26 students and only one available court.

"but you said earlier that you didn't want to play at the games where people were semi-skilled and apparently too competitive for you. This isn't an issue of demand, this is an issue of not wanting to play."

wrong. it is an issue of demand and not wanting to play. when the courts at night are filled with 20 people per court, that is definitely overcrowded. maybe you never played a basketball game in your life to know and understand these numbers.

"maybe you never played a basketball game in your life to know and understand these numbers."

I played varsity during my freshmen year in HS before dropping it for ice hockey (much more fun, IMO). Last time I knew, having around 20 people makes for games with 1 sub per person.

lol, i love how you guys tear eachother down, true cornellians

It's more like defending the Motherland :)
