Cornell is visiting my school (International) on Wednesday :). I go to a school in Beijing, China. I am American though. Any tips on what to do? What to ask? What to find out? Anything to improve chances? They're doing a presentation I think.

You don't necessarily have to do anything at these presentations. The nice thing would be to stay after the presentation, introduce yourself to the representative and at least have a few words of conversation.

Read the website in advance and think of some questions to ask that aren't answered on it.

Use the visit to gather information that will help you figure out if Cornell is the school for you, and if so, how you can send the best possible application.

It's better not to stand out at all at such presentations than to stand out for being irritatingly aggressive, something that I once saw a couple of people do when another Ivy presented at a school.

stay after....well dunno about those international affairs...but I once stayed 2 hours waiting in line to speak with a Yale admission officer. Me and a group of my friends just went there, hanged out while waiting in line, then tag teamed him, meaning we stayed a while so he had less sleep time before he had to head out again :D. He deserved it for not accepting anyone from our school last year.

As I said before: It's a mistake to stand out for being obnoxiously aggressive.

We weren't obnoxiously aggressive. We were at the end of the line, waiting an hour to talk to the guy. At the end we as a group asked him a bunch of wel-informed questions, gave him a diet coke and told him to remember us. Bastard kept giving us a false sense that everyone had such great chances of getting in, when he'd rejected everyone from our school the year before.

get down on your knees and worship the ground they (the admin officers) have walked on :)

give them a peking duck...

Bring the representatives a pie or something and slip in a paper version of the commonapp! =)

Good luck. I'm applying this fall to Cornell also.
